Exclamation Megan Headers

Does anyone know if the Megan Headers that fit on an '02 will fit on my '03 TL-S?....I was also considering the Alphawerks, but after reading that heated thread from last month I have pretty much ruled them out.....I have read alot of good things about the Megans, and I just don't want to spend $1000 for Comptechs that could fall apart like some of their springs and swaybars do......

My boy has the Megans on his 03 CL-S and had a little problem with them to start but it was fixed, from what I understand it is better than the Alphawerks though

resonance at high rpm, scraping because of extra flex pipe, and some oil pan clearance issues on older batches..........

look for batch 4 at least, anything else run away

1st and 2e batch had problem with (do not clear the oil pan properly) 3nd batch is too loo and you can easily break the flex pipe.. 4e patch i dont know megan are really kind for the service .. and a couple of people had problem with alphawerk too.. but i heard that people from service do not complain ..

Pretty much resonace free, only real slight when I gun it hard...otherwise love it.

But I also wrapped the headers and I installed a High Flow Cat,which in my OPINION helped a lot.

^^of course that makes total sense..... But $1050 CT vs. $200 Meagn is something to think about. In a sense we need to support these companies or forever be under the Comptech Monopoly.

BTW im not hating on CT though they make good stuff (except springs, iguess)

i agree with Phesto.....from what i've dug-up, the new Megans are just as good as the comptechs......personally, comptech can keep their $900 "comptech" that they engrave on the headers and I'll keep my $900 price difference for the Megans and put it towards something else....

Yea sure, are megan headers the best? I thought comptech headers would be the best, but i didnt feel like spending the money for them. Or is it just matter of opinion on which headers are the best?

get stones headers 300.00. I've had mine for over a year and they look brand new. fitment is perfect and resonance is minimal only between 2400-2800rpms. When I gun it there is no resonance. I think my cat is the culprit for the resonance actually because the cat bolts are rusted all to hell. when I get a new cat I bet my resonance will be completely gone. the power gain is same for all tubular headers so get the best deal you can and I think Stones are the best deal by far.

alot of people will say that the comptechs are the best - i have never heard of any issues with them, but perhaps some of the other guys on here have heard or experienced otherwise. the early batch megans did have some problems, but since then, megan has repaired/replaced them and offers excellent customer service. i have known comptech springs and swaybars to rust heavily and fail after a short amount of time, and personally i'm not willing to spend $1050 on their headers when i can get a set of megans for $250.

don't get me wrong, comptech does make a great product, but you are pretty much paying for the name....

do a search on this site for the comptechs and see if you can find any threads pertaining to them having problems with your specific car.....otherwise, i would just go with the megans.

contact jaketheb0mb@yahoo.com and tell him that you're a member of acurazine and he'll get you a great price shipped!

Do you feel a big difference in the way the car performs with the headers? Like is it worth the money?

most people say that they feel an immediate addition in horsepower - especially once the ecu has been reset and recurves itself......most claims are in the area of 20-25 rwhp, but it has hard to say exactly without a before and after dyno run...

^^^rwhp? you mean fwhp right. also headers won't make your engine sound any different. an intake will and an exhaust will but not headers., they are the bolt-on for our cars that produces the largest gain though and should be the first mod anyone gets if they want their car faster.

an RT cat with the headers will get you a "sweeter" sound, But the headers alone wont.Check out the UR pulleys a lot of people swear by those as far as power gains

ur pulleys are an awesome mod and you can feel the difference. headers you feel more of difference, CAI a little, spacers a little, etc.

What exactly are UR Pulleys and what do they do? And if i were to get those, which ones are the best and are they better to get than headers? Everything is still stock in my car, so I don't know if its better to get that now and headers later.

IMO headers hsould always come first, then intake to mat with the headers and bring out their full potential. UR is the abbreviation for Unorthodox Racing which makes the best aftermarket lightweight underdrive crank pulleys. do a search for more info. they give a solid 10whp throughout entire rpm band and are very well made and no one here has had any problems with them. it is a very solid product, but for performance always go with headers first.

For the CL/TL you can get two different setups of UR pulleys: just the crank pulley or the 3-piece pulley set: crank, alternator, and power steering. Most of the power can be found in replacing the crank pulley. It is lighter in weight and slightly underdrives the accessories to free up horsepower. The two additional pulleys can help out a little more by again being lighter. PM me for prices or check out this link: https://acurazine.com/forums/sponsored-sales-group-buys-10/unorthodox-racing-special-pricing-event-acura-cl-tl-rl-mdx-tsx-301566/

Headers changed the sound of my CT exhaust.

Thank You, PenguinQX.....I was going to say - if they change the sound of every other car - why wouldn't a set change the sound of our cars?....IMO!

Ok i've found the website, now they only list the Civic, Integra, Accord and the Prelude. If they can make it for those cars i'm sure they can make it for a TL. Might have ti call them and see.
