Intake Plenums for the TL-P's

I understand that there is a Power Rev Racing intake plenum available for the Type-S CL's and TL's, but not for the TL and CL-P's..

Does anyone know of any other companies that make plenums for the TL-P's?

And what is the reason why these plenums won't fit on the TL-P's?
Different bolt-on points?

Different intake manifolds (parts 3 and 4 are what you're talking about)

00-03 TLP

The type-s has larger ones. Contact power rev and see if they will make them for the P. Dont know if the gains will be that much but it wouldnt hurt to try.

get a type S manifold on your P and then get the p2r plenums.

So..
Type-S Intake Manifolds vary from the TL-P Manifolds in design, size, and bolt locations..

Which..
is the reason why, Type-S Plenums will not fit a TL-P manifold?

Then.. As Hockeyman has suggested as a solution to this..

a Type-S manifold should bolt on directly to a TL-P engine without any problems?

If this is so, I am assuming that all 6 valve seats on the cylinder head of a TL-P will match up with a Type-S Manifold and that this manifold swap will only require a Type-S Manifold, gaskets, and bolts.

I am also assuming that the larger Type-S throttle body is not needed..

Then after swapping out manifolds, P2R Plenums can be installed..

Will the larger Type-S throttle body also be needed for this Mod?

and what is the expected gains from this mod? 5 HP at least?

I would only do them after all other mods are done.

that was my reaction when i saw the price. for that money and the amount of power u get out of this mod i dont think its worth it unless u got all other bolt ons and this is the last one.
you will see slightly more power with the type-s im, and tb bc its bigger, your intake pipe will also need to be bigger or u could get a reducer from the tb to the intake pipe

The type S TB would be beneficial, I had mine bored out as well. Keep in mind to swap the S manifold you will need a window switch in order to open up the butterfly on the new manifold, do a search and you should be able to find the how to about it. Might be in the CL section. I just stretched my cai coupler over the larger TB.

I would use a RPM switch

Wow, $650 for parts (plus the price of plenums, switch, "reducer") for this mod is just plain crazy

So if this mod was to be done properly/completely.. all that is needed is:

1. Type-S Intake Manifold ($380)
2. Type-S Throttle Body ($280)
3. "Reducer" (for CAI)
4. Window or RPM Switch (that opens the butterfly..)
5. P2R Plenums

I might as well just look into trading in my TL-P for a Type-S fellas..

Question: Type-S v2 AEM Intake vs. TL-P v2 AEM Intake
Are the Pipe Diameters Different? Larger for the Type-S?

If so.. Would this affect performance substantially, if a smaller TL-P intake pipe was "retrofitted" onto the larger Type-S Throttle Body?

Question: Everyone seems to agree that this mod should be done last after all bolt-ons are first installed.. But, if this mod only slightly enhances performance and provides minimal gains.. Isn't this mod as helpful as an exhaust, which only makes +2-3 HP?

If so.. I wouldn't consider this mod worth it unless you're trying to "squeeze" out every possible horse out of a TL-P engine... when one can just trade-in for a Type-S.. and work from there..

AEM doesnt make the V2 for the Type S only the TLP. P2R on the other hand makes sumthn that resembles the V2 for the Type S...And yes ud be better off trading it in for a Type S or doing a Type S engine swap. you can find the Type S motor for about 600 bucks. Also the TLS TB diamter is 3" and i believe the TLP's is 2.75". You would be bottle necking the TB/Intake meeting point which would restrict air and probably cause u to lose power. I believe the Type S' have netted as much as 15whp with a tune and the plenums. Im not sure how much the TLP would benefit for the Type S TB,IM,Plenums, & tune

Yeah true, makes sense-

But do you guys think it is better to trade a TL-P for a TL-S automatic? or for a CL-S 6-speed?

If you really wanna go all out, wouldn't a CL-S 6 speed be a better choice if performance is desired?

I guess it's a trade off between the touring luxury feel of a TL-S vs. the racing luxury feel of a CL-S

You can get the type-s IM for cheaper than that. Get a used one, (all parts 200 ish)

If you want teh best of both worlds do a 6 speed swap and put in the type-s motor.

Yes like i stated above this mod(type-s mani) should be the last thing to do after all other mods are done. In conjunction with it get a standalone and have it dyno tuned.

i agree with fsttyms...do the type S engine and 6spd swap...OR u cold get a TL Type S and get the 6 spd swap...OR you could just get an 03 CLS6...ur choice really, but the TLP is not goign to cut it when it comes to performance unless u boost it. I got rid of my TLp for the TLS and dont regret it one bit. & now the price for a TLS/CLS6 isnt that bad.

where could one find a TYPE-S intake manifold for a cl-P? wouldn't it have to come off of a junked car or could this be found from acura or another place?

and yes the IMRC is what opens the butterfly valve, needed as well. and for the P's the IM is one of the best mods there is! 25Whp and 35crank...about. so worth it! plus a type-P engages VTEC at 4400 vs. the S's 4800rpm, not a big difference!, but then the P becomes a whole new car! [some mistake the p to engage at 5200, NOT the case!]
