A little off topic, but what is with the total engine compartment covers (plastic cover panels) that are now installed on late model Acuras and Lexus (at least)? I'm not sure whether I find these hilarious, annoying, or insulting. What is the purpose? To prevent the owner from having to look at the scary mechanical parts, to make DIY maintenance more difficult, or what? Why not deliver the cars with the hood locked closed (can only be opened by the dealer with a special key) and leave a hole in the hood for the oil dipstick?

Just curious .....

You're the same guy who was going to install a turbo then a supercharger. With either, you relocate the battery, so why do you want a battery cover?

Also, you have to spend a little time researching at the site kris gave you, i.e., you have to do some work.

I used that same link he posted for the shroud (part over the hood). All parts are available there. You just have to READ.

Just repeating what I read. Not sure if it is true, but I sure do beleave it.

Car buyers favor cars that have the covers. So, the answer is Marketing !!!!
