ah ic. what mileage do you have on your car?
i'm still debating to do it now, or later when i have higher mileage, lol
and that's good to hear that some people actually feel the difference, while some dont, hehe

turbo just do it- the TL will love it
libert- that port works BUT you failed to put it in slowly reulting in a massive dose shot thru at hi speed rather than the sip sip method which allows the stuff to loosen grunge.
Do it again correctly with warm engine and all that- it will work even better
You only need spark plugs IF you already needed spark plugs!!!
If you do the hotfoot drive after sefoam- it will clean the plugs off- if you dont or you have really old weak spark plugs- then it may be required
Any TL with over 60 k miles is ready for plugs anyway
NGK Iridium IX are well liked here
No you cant use the ac delco 2 buck chuck plugs- not in the TL

so to make it easier, i went to look for that vac/brake booster line what ever its called, and i'm not sure which one to use...
here are some pictures
please guide me to the one that will reach ALL 6 cylinders and not only one side. thanks
#209
None of those are the brake booster!!!
but you do have in pic 1, the actual line and place that is used in the new method- see post #147 of this thread
The upper right corner of your pic, mid size hose goes to front side of that manifold looking thing, next to that bolt- you see it now-
THATS the same exact one on my 01TL
go back and check page 4 here and compare pics
You want to remove the clamp and pull the hose off the metal nipple
For you- FIRST go to the parts store- show them that hose and tell them what you are doing- ask for 1 foot of that size hose stuff, and you will have a special dedicated hose for foamin fun
Now proceed as in the pics I posted

HURRAY
I just got back from my car, I finally seafoamed my baby. I was actually able to find that same vac line like in post #147 of this thread. I used some pliers to open up the clamp, and pulled the hose off.
I then used a new 1 foot hose I bought over at autozone, and although it was very small and tight, I managed to get it on the nipple. So I fired up my car, and did the sip sip method slowly. The engine stalled a couple of seconds after I started, but I tried again, and this time gave it some throttle with the gold looking thing.
I did about 3/4 of the can in that vac line, and the rest into the engine crank case. Turned off the car, let it sit for about 10 mins, and then fired her up and revved a bit, saw alot of smoke coming from the back, so I went for a drive. Floored it a few times, and did all kinds of crazy driving.
Overall, I'm very happy that I was able to do this myself without the help of a mechanic, since I'm not that mechanically inclined when it comes to this stuff.
Bottom line is, if I could do it, then ANYONE can

ok you only made a few mistakes-=
put remainder of seafoam in gas tank not oil- dont rev it while sitting- and only add to the oil right before change time. You are now the official test pilot of hi revs and seafoam in oil!!
a straight 3rd gear 4000 rpm run is fine- or runs from 10mph to 50 mph- up to about 5500 rpm in 2nd, gets it all pumping good and hot- especially if full can added to 1/4 tank or less of gas. The injectors get it good and spray the pistons while nice and hot.
Read and FOLLOW the complete directions for best results

i think i'm gonna try the new line before i take a lil road trip on thursday afternoon for th weekend... we'll see how well it works, i've only used the old vac line the first time i seafoamed and i'm due for an oil change so maybe i'll seafoam using the new vac port, gas tank, and crank case and get an oil change right before my trip....

you can do the intake and gas anytime, use 1 can seafoam to 1/4 tank gas- 2oz per gallon is ideal cleaning strength
just hold off on the engine oil method until the day of the oil change

ok so i ran it through the new line that goes through all 6 cylinders.... i got a lot of smoke for only a couple minutes and then it was gone... my check engine light is on now... anybody think that'll go away soon?
#219
yep it will clear itself in a few days or less
Did you do the hot foot drive after seafoam- that is usually enough to keep the O2 sensor cleaned off and prevent CEL- but not to worry -just drive it

the initial smoke is off no concern- what you want is stuff getting pumped at pressure- rpm to blow out all the loosened crud and goo
4000 rpm 3rd gear for 10-15 minutes will do , and some 10 mph-50mph, into vtec,- 5000 rpm runs in 2nd gear work really well too.

If you dont have your radio &nav codes handy-
look in the passenger footwell for a fusebox
#12 should be marked Clock Backup- remove that for a few minutes, that is the secret power for the ECU- and will reset the computer for the engine
I do encourage all to know their radio/nav security codes- store them on the free acura.com account,
Clean the battery terminals now as part of spring cleaning and summer prep for the car.

Did you follow the directions?
How did you do it?
What did you do to make it backfire?

I believe so....did the sip method using the new TB hose pictured above. After letting it sit for 15 min. I let it idle for a while. While idling, i blipped the throttle a couple times to see the smoke. While I did this, the CEL would blink. As soon as the engine smoothed out (CEL turned off at this point), I pulled out and started doing my hot runs.
When shifting from 2nd to 3rd at WOT, i would hear a boom coming from the back. It did it a 2nd time when I did the same thing. Once I got on the freeway, it smoothed out and the smoke cleared. Idle is now smooth.

follow the procedure next time!
you only idle for aminute or 2- just till it runs good enough to drive and get some exhaust flow past the O2 sensor.
Nowhere in the DIY does it say blip throttle at idle after seafoam-
If you were manually shifting into 3rd and lifted slightly off the gas with an abundance of non combustible material still in the cylinders,,,that would bang~
Did you warm the engine by driving it before seafoam?

I suggest only 1-2nd gear runs with wot- into 5000rpm so vtec engages
then hit the brakes and do it again from 10mph several times... to really pump the pressure waves and make HEAT inside to clean off the parts

Burning Brakes
^Can't believe your not a mod yet lol really though your info is always very useful. It got me thru the seafoam process once already, and its about time for another cleansing

Ah I see. I remember seeing a couple videos on youtube where people were reving at idle, which is where I got the idea. Should I seafoam again or am I good for the next couple thousand miles?

Another question. Is it possible to do this alone on a 3rd gen? Since it's drive by wire, I don't have the luxury of manually turning the throttle to keep the engine going.
To answer your earlier question, I did warm the car up before the seafoaming.

drive by wire-hmmm not something I deal with on a gen2, guess your DIY needs to say bring friend to assist
Youtube videos- well the Azine DIY for the last couple of years had totally the wrong vac line being used- so why would anyone on youtube have a better idea?
Follow the current instruction here for best results
Any effort does work somewhat- they new method works the best
be a mod- HA they dont even pay those people!!

engine light wont go away
Hey guys im new to AZ and ive been reading alot about seafoam here ... i recently jus did seafoam in to the vac port and did the slurp method.....it blew a alot of smoke at the beginngin of the drive after i let it sit for 10 mins but after i went on a hot run hiting vtech on high it stoped smoking..... and i notice that the check engine light is on and hasnt come off yet ive drove a goood 700kms since ive done the seafoam......is there somthing i should do not to sure about this...its all new to me
p.s AZ is the best!!!

sounds like some gunk got on the O2 sensor- needed more hot drive than it got to burn it off-
pull fuse number 12 in the passenger footwell- that resets the computer, and see if that does it.
Otherwise do an other seafoam treatment making sure to get the engine internals- especially the exhaust HOT on the afterdrive- the smoke isnt the all-telling signs of anything.
Its a good idea to repeat the cleaning after 2000k miles for 1st timers too

OK well i unpluged # 12 on passengerwell and it didnt work......but i decided to pop the hood and disconnect the battery.....waited 5 mins and then turn on car and now its gone ......thats resetting ECU?? sorrie if i sound like a NOOB
#237
Yes thats the way I would normally suggest to reset the ECU- remove battery cables and clean them while off- just for good maitenance-
maybe its a different fuse on your year

If seafoam worked for you, and you notice an improvement of any kind or sustained increase in mileage- please post those comments too, there are still disbelievers~
