can you blow an amp during installation?

So I was installing my amp today(Alpine MRP-M650). I installed everything but then when I powered it on...I got no power light and all the fuses are good and power/ground are good too. I dont have the sub hooked up yet as I'll get it tomorrow. I did notice that when i was connecting the power wire to the amp it had a very small spark to it and the gournd wire was not connected ....could that have caused it to blow?

it should be fine. check the fuse under your hood where u connected the power lead to the battery. and make sure where ur ground wire connects to the chassis of the car from the amp is grinded down to bare metal.

check your "blue wire/remote turn on lead" make sure it has power when everything is turned on as well.

dont worry too much about the spark...ive done that plenty of times in my 4 years of audio installation.
illmat1k and wildcat are both right..those are the 2 most likely reasons why youre not getting power.
get a knife and scrape off the paint where the ground is bolted to the chassis.
if thats okay, then double check your remote turn-on wire that goes from your head unit to your amp.

oh and next time just remember to disconnect the negative terminal of your battery so that you dont get any sparks again. it does reset all your head units settings and the cars clock but better safe than sorry. i highly doubt you shorted your amp this time though.
good luck!

If the power and ground are good, its the remote turn on wire

the remote turn on wire tells the amp when to turn on (which is when the head unit powers up) so yeah you need it.

new question....so I got a Infinity 122.7W that can do 1-8ohm and its connected to a Alpine MRP-M650 which can do either 2 or 4 ohms. My sub is also a SVC but how do I wire it to 2 ohms??

after a quick search on Google about your specific sub, it appears there is a switch on the sub to select between 1 or 4 ohm, so if i read correctly, youre stuck with either 1 ohm or 4 ohm, to get to 2 ohm, you would have to run 2 subs @ 4ohm and "bridge" them together. its been awhile since i connected things myself, so i cannot get too specific on connections other than what i stated.
