White discharge from A/C vents
Hi guys,
Lately I've been noticing my A/C is blowing out white-colored air from the vents.. It only happens once in a while for short periods, but I was wondering what that is since it's been occurring with increasing frequency. Thanks in advance.

Maybe...but have you checked where he's from?! I doubt "extra" cold air even exists in Texas!

All my Hondas do this. It is merely condensation when the hot and cold air meet when the A/C condensor cycles off and on and it is normally when the air is extremely hunid.

Its condensation from warm outside air passing over the evaporator coils. If you put the a/c on recirculating mode (cutting off outside air) the 'smoke' should decrease significantly.

I think this is only prevalent to us with automatic temperature regulating AC systems. Cars with a fixed or manual temperature setting don't get this smoke. When our cars change the mixure of outside air is when this happens. You can manually make this happen in cars that have the fix/manual setting by moving their slider and then this will cause the smoke to happen.....and yes of course conditions also have to be right...so it has to be humid.

Nope... your ride needs a recharge in refrigerant, it's not normal. Without the freon (or whatever the new name is... R34), you compressor will not get the necessary lubrication and eventually lock-up.

Thats correct the conditions have to be correct for this to happen.
I had this happen once that I notice since I had my TL. This was on a very warm summer day it had just stoped raining. I had not had not gone that far & notice the mist of smoke comming from A/C vents. I knew what it was but I had not seen it before in this car. I have not seen it again since then & that was 3yrs ago. I also use my A/C almost all the time in spring, summer season.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I guess the conditions are just right for this... temperature in the high 90s with extremely high humidity. I've been thinking my system needs a recharge though... the car won't cool at all when the outside temp/humidity combo are both in the 90s.... I just attributed this to the borderline adequate Honda A/Cs though.

It should still cool.... it's been in the 90's here with really high humidity and my tl cools in 2-3 minutes and it gets ice cold within 5-7 minutes...

So do you think I should recharge my A/C? If the TL A/C is supposed to be *that* good.. then mine is definitely malfunctioning. It's works well up to about 90 degrees outside with high humidity.. after that forget it. i also have 27% tints all around.

Yes, I use a sunshield. I've tried it putting it to 60.. but it doesn't really blow very cold, so I just leave it at around 68 and hope for the best. Most of the time I've comfortable (never cold), but sometimes it's just too hot no matter what I do. I'll try a recharge kit from Auto Zone or pep boys.
