Question What size Rims???

hey guys,

Im wondering what size rims do you recommend for my commuter (TL)? I like the look of 18" rims, but will I be sacrificing my ride for style? Another issure I have to worry about is my car is alreadly lowered with comptech springs. I drive alot and I carry passengers, should i just get 17" rims to play it safe? Last question what rims for you recommend? I dont want to spend more then 1500 with tires...

Well if your not willing to spend more than 1500, it's hard to get decent 18 inch rims anyways....but you can probably afford some 17's...btw if you get a good fitment at a wheel dealer, you can get 18's without having to worry about rubbing, and performance only gets better with 18's, ride shouldnt be that bad either, im currently running 17's with 215/50/17 Pirelli P7000, and the traction improvement was well noticed...so if your thinking about 17's with 1500 budget, go for it....BTW if anyone is willing to give me a good reasonable price for my rims and tires, which i have about 80% tread on my front tires and about 90% tread on my rear tires, I will be thinking about selling them......email me if your interested, the wheels are ATP S5, you can see it in www.tirerack.com

2000 Satin Silver TL, 17x7.5 ATP wheels with Pirelli 215/50/17 P7000SS, OEM spoiler, K&N filter, Tint all Around. Inspire Foglight Switch being shipped as we speak! Also thinking about getting 18 inch. wheels.
Mods to come: Catz MSX fogs, superwhite highbeams, hopefully headers, exhaust, H&R springs, black tint rear blinkers, front and rear three-way speakers with tweeter setup and some rockfordfosgate amps....etc.

You could get 18s... just be sure you can forgive yourself for not getting 19s.

Cool

Hey, if you get 17's I don't think it would look bad... If you get tires get 225/50/R17, that comes closest to the origonal tire size to your TL...

Shyne--Coming close to the correct rubber size 24-7 at tha 7-11 ...

You should spend the $1500 on a set of high quality 17" rims/tires instead of a set of cheap 18s.

Especially if you carry passengers alot, go with 17s. I'd get 225/45 size tires for your 17s.

Why not buy a set of CL Type-S wheels and tires, or better yet, TL Type-S wheels and tires when it's released

I'm sure lots of people will be selling the TL Type-S wheels and tires for 18s, maybe for 19s.

Could get all for ~$600.

if you're worried, then go 45/17 or 50/17.

According to specifications and dimensions, 215/50 series are the CLOSEST to the overal diameter of the stock OEM tires of 205/60...So this doesnt throw off my mileage and also my tach stays neutral in telling me how fast im going....also 225/45 should be close too..

You can probably buy 1 20inch rim for $1500 too.

23s baby I CAN fit them on the TL, the 23s that is, but, unfortunately, I will not be able to mount up tires

Anyway, ride comfort will not be greatly affected. 18s with 225 40 18 rubber will work just fine. Also depends on what kind of look you want for the car. The daily driving thing shouldnt be affected by an 18" rim or tire for that matter.
