Hey I was talking to my friend earlier I and asked him what kind of detector he has in his z4. He told me he has a V1 detector. He said it's kind of expensive ($400) but it saved him a lot of times. I looked it up online and it has good reviews on youtube vids. Anyone have any experience with this? sorry if someone's already talked about this. I'm thinking of getting one :P

 

I have one and I love it. Gave the Escort to my dad after I got the V1. Can't tell you how many times it saved me. If it saves you once, it already paid for itself. Well worth the price.

btw, this has been talked about...ALOT! so I 'll say it first...use the Search!

 

I think the general concensus is that the V1 is more sensitive but has a few more false alerts than the Escort products. The V1 would be better for highway travel where there are fewer sources of false alerts but it might be a little annoying in the urban environment. The directional arrows are nice though.

This has been beaten like a dead horse. The V1 is great. I have it, but gave it to my GF (at the time) in favor of the Escort. I hated all the falses compared to the 8500. Range they are both so far that if one picks it up slightly before the other it doesnt matter (though in all my usage the 8500 won on KA and was slightly behind on K, Laser no contest for me was the 8500) You also may want to look into the new 9500 from escort. Its better than the 8500.

The detector is only as good as the driver. But i wont go back to the V1.

 

Ok if your reallly driving fast either in city or highway. You need the V1 updated v1.8 . And the eSCORT zr3 Laser jammer.
Cops are now so intelligent , that they know how to use Laser guns too( SUprised) lol. So even the V1 WONT save you from Laser Gun, i would suggest get the Escort ZR3 Laser Shifter.
I got the V1 v1.8, and yes in Houston tthem cops started to use those LASER GUNS and personally i got hit several times. Luckily i was crusing.
So i saved up and bought the ZR3, dude that thing working 100% man. Ill borrow mi friend camera and let u see how it set up if possible.
I got hit 2 times this morning while driving to school and the ZR3 went crazy lol, i wonder wat the cop thinks when no shits display up his laser gun lol.

So , V1 could save you from 60 to 75% of average.

 

can't cops still pull you over even if you jam their laser? even in states where detectors are legal, would the cop think of anything to say/do if they see a v1 mounted on your windshield? sorry about making the thread but googling acurazine threads becoming a pain in the A.

 

Whenever I see cops roll by I toss my V1 to the floor LOL. Then I pick it up and put it back afterwards.....like a lil bitch.

It depends on where u live , im in houston tx so yeah V1 is ok.

Addition infos: Laser Jammers and Radar Jammers are illegal in the states of Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Washington DC.

But hey, do the reseach about Laser Jammers, the law clearly said that its illegal for you to JAM police radar, but it didnt say ANYTHING ABOUT Laser Jammer !! Right so yeah

And cop wont say shit when they see our Radar Detectors hangin from the windshield. Lol trust me cuz now 80% of cops are still using Radar guns and 15% using Laser and left to 5%( i dont really know wat they use) using NOTHIN lol

So dont expect that buying V1 can save you from cops that aint using Radars or Lasers cuz if those Radars or Lasers aint on in their car. Chance of the ticket is so high. Thats why i got the ZR3

And for someone who wondering how the ZR3 works, here is how it works, It jams the Laser gun( Mhz is faster then the gun and ofcourse it even double faster then the V1). I think after 2 or 3 seconds, it automatic shut up( and ofcouse it will give you a loud warning that you being shot). The reason it automatic shuts up is because let you slow down, and let cop fix their gun and do a second shot. Then you saved. lol

you can get a refurbish one for $360 . you wont be able to tell the difference from a new one. they ship them with new casing. i got one and it's great.
had Escort 8500 X50 , and it was great too . better filtering on the escort.
but as a motorcycle rider , listening to the audio only . the Escort doesnt have any sounds alert for multiple radars. the V1 beeps every time there is a new alert.
bottom line , both are great. and both work probably the same or very close .

It came with the package too, but i dont really need it so i sold it to a friend lol and now...yeah i do need it lol
Some hints, if you gettin the Concealed display thing, get the original one dont get the moded with all those blue green red leds on it . Lol trust me on this . Good luck man
