TL 6 Speed

I have a friend who lives in eastern Canada (Toronto) who just bought and RSX last month. He was told last week by his dealer that the TL would be available with a 6 speed starting in this upcoming June. Has anyone else heard any reliable rumors?

Right now I am balancing between a G35 and the TL-S, the 6 speed would end that competition immediately!

Thanks

Well, the 2003 just came out in March and I doubt you'll see another release in June. The rumors all seem to point to a possible 6-speed tranny in the TL-S when the car gets redesigned. That redesign is slated in 2003 as a 2004 model, although there's been no announcement whatsoever from Acura on the 6-speed or the redesign....

Why not give the TL one final horrah?

Why not milk the Acura cash-cow for all it's worth?

They gave it the Types S upgrade and I'm sure this has sold well because I see more TLS than CLS around here and it has only been out for a limited time.

Why not let it go out with a bang and and put some more people in a TLS by adding the 6MT?

I can only imagine how wild the car mags would go after testing that baby--they would cream themselves since they love the TL so much already.

I am in Seattle also, where did you buy your TL? Did you contact all the dealers in the area?

I guess I am hoping it is true and that they would release it mid-model year since the engineering is all done. The TL and the CL are, of course, identical underneath. The only thing stopping them from doing it is marketing, not engineering.

crossing my fingers!

Nope... I still doubt a 6-speed... so I'll just wait and see.

Right now the factory is still not churning out enough 6-sp CL-S to go around. Do you really think that Honda will start producing 6-sp TL-S in order to rob the 6-sp CL-S supply even more ? Try not to believe anything that's too good to be true from the dealerships. Believe in only what you read from the official news releases by Honda.
