Tall Driver Issue
Tall Driver Issue
I haven't done any extensive searching yet but I'd like to hear from you guys if you care to respond. I recently bought a '99 TL Certified Pre-Owned and I love most everything about the car. My only problem is that I have a somewhat long commute and I'm tall enough that it gets uncomfortable (6'6"). Does anyone know if there is a way to get the seat repositioned so I can get an extra inch or two of travel towards the back? If so, what do I need to be on the lookout for in regards to warranty or safety? Thanks in advance for any advice.
I'm 6'5" and I think I'm at the limit of my car's leg room. Not sure if the difference in seats between the TL-P & TL-S have an effect on leg room. You may want to look into TL-S frount seats.
Try tilting the the lower portion of the seat down and raise the upper portion. This gives you a slight adjustment in the upper area and it might help take your mind off the fact that your seat doesn't move back anymore.
I'm a little over 6'4.
When I went to buy my 2002 TL-P, I heard from several people that there could be some problems with my height, such as hitting my head on the ceiling or legs not having enough room.
The problem though was that I loved the car way too much, so I thought I'd find a way to make it work. I wish there was a science to it, but I just pushed the seat all the way back, and then elevated the bottom portion of the seat as high as it would go - this added on enough space to make it comfortable with some room to spare. Finally, just reclined the seatback until everything fit. Sure, I could also put my hand out the back window, if I was so inclined - but it works.
The only problem I had was the distance to the steering wheel. After you go that far back to get your legs to fit, it takes some time to get used to the distance of the wheel. Just put ure hand on the top of the wheel, turn the bass on the stereo all the way up, and people seem to understand.

im 6'5 and my biggest gripe is the moonroof. i wish that stupid thing was an option. i would like the extra inch or 2 there the most. as far as the seat goes. you could bring it to a shop that specializes in things for handicap people, they would be able to redo the seat mounts so that they are further back. i may look at it myself this summer to see if i can get it positioned back further. i know i can reweld seat mounts, its just if i ever get bored enough to do it

The strange part is in my TL-S I fit better in the *passenger* seat. I think because it doesn't have all the power options of the driver seat, the passenger seat is about 1" lower than the driver's seat. If I could switch the two I would.

I have my seat down as low as it will go and I still hit
