Stupid check engine light on!

I was driving to work today and as traffic slowed to get on to 287, I was slow and go and suddenly all my light in my dash turned on and my car wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear! I put it into the sport shift and was able to get out of 2nd gear that way but it was thumping going into gear. Since I'm on tranny #5, I thought that was it again. I got off the exit and pulled into a library parking lot and turned the car off and checked under the hood to make sure nothing was cracked and leaking. Nothing....I turned the car back on and all the lights are off aside from the check engine light. Car sounds and runs fine, tranny shifting fine like nothing happened. I had no choice but to drop it off up the road at Acura of Denville. Not sure what's up but I hope it's not tranny #6 coming my way. Any ideas?

Cliffs:
Lights in dash all turned on
Car wouldn't shift out of 2nd
Turned car off and on, dash lights go off
Check engine light still on
Dropped off at dealership

I REALLY hoping it's not another tranny! Here's another question. I have 100680 miles on my car, will Acura fix it under "warranty" when I'm over 100k? I only had this trans for about 30-40k. Should be able to put up a good fight, right?

Got a call back and they said it wasn't the tranny!!! They got a code of P0120 - ETS Main Throttle Position Sensor Malfunction. They said I need to replace the whole throttle body which will cost about $530!!! Any thoughts?

its been extended to 109k miles OR 7 years PLUS 9 months, from first date in service, whichever comes first
As long as you are in the cars age limit and its not salvage title- they should be calling to tell you a loaner car is waiting for you~

If your last one was before mid 2005, you should have better luck with this one, some improvements, but they will never be failure proof.
Are you a test subject for them each time they try a trans mod- so some fail
- or messed up karma?
I think of it as- Acura saves me the trouble of changing the trans fluid by simply replacing the entire trans every few years

Wow- well at least its not the trans!
Check auto parts stores like kragen.com and others for a better price
Dealer is always high priced.

You have no choice other than to buy a used TB or to pay for a new TB. You cant get that sensor separately

kris knows these things-
so I would start with a call to the local auto recycler yard and ask them to check the hotline if they dont have one themselves.
There are a few acura dealers on here that give good prices.
Check the Private Sales area of Off Topic link at top of every page here.
Post a WTB want to buy for it

I need to do a timing belt/water pump service so I told the guy I would get that all done together....IF he can cover the TB under "warranty". He went to the back and said they would do it. $962 out the door for the timing belt/water pump service and a new TB! Saved $535! I'm sure the timing belt was probably more expensive but if I remember it's about $700-800 for that service and since I'm out of warranty, I'm technically saving $535. Can't complain too much. He did try to get me to do the 90k service but 98% of the things on the list doesn't apply or don't need.

I think this is a good deal. Have the timing belt done and they will cover your TB replacement. Make sure they will do all other related parts when doing the timing belt, water pump, tensioner, etc.

I made sure of that too....there is a whole service around the timing belt and he mentioned a bunch of other stuff they do while the engine is taken apart.
