camber kit

so i lowered my TL-S (pics can be found here: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=178162 )

and i took it into firestone to have an alignment done (lifetime alignment FTW!)... they did the alignment and told me ill need a camber kit (which they priced for over 1k for labor and parts )

anyways i got the sheet listing what it was before and after...

front camber is within specs (-0.6 left and -0.9 right)... but the rear is as follows, -2.0 left and -3.0 right... so im planning on getting a camber kit just for the rear.
the specified range is from -1.0 to 0.0.

i found this rear camber kit on ebay and was wondering if this will get the job done or should i go a different route (link to ebay camber kit: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-02...QQcmdZViewItem )

any input will help. thanks guys

edit: maybe there is a camber kit trick like how my old integra had it... where you can put washers in the back and that fixed the camber

That one looks like it will work, however it's an unbranded item. Just for peace of mind I'd get the SPC (Eibach) set or the Ingalls set. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for lifetime alignment? And is it limited to the number of alignments you can get per year?

you need a rear camber kit- which is about 150$ in parts for both sides
takes approx 30 minutes per side the swap out the parts
It is a replacement control arm with a threaded midsection for the adjusting
You want about neg 1 degree for improved cornering.
BUY from our sponsoring vendors and be assured of GENUINE parts- not foreign knockoffs
MrHeelToe and Excelerate both carry what you need

but- those linked seem ok- says they came from a performance shop, and their info is same as what I had just typed before looking at the ad.

thanks 01tl4tl ... im still debating and i wonder if i can install the camber kit myself... might go with the one on ebay to save money since thats hard to come by :p

and AMGala, lifetime alignment cost $99 (it was $130 but the next weekend they had a special for $99 and i went and got it price matched)... from what i know there is no limit on how many alignments per year but i dont know for sure!

i always get the lifetime alignment on all/most cars iv owned... my integra and my dads mazda both had it also... well worth it IMO

How low are you? At the place where I got my alignment after my drop, the alignment machine was hard to get up because I was too low. How are Firestone's machines?

basic tools and a floor jack will allow home install on the rear kits
just measure the current ones and preset the new ones length close-
then immediatly to the shop for alignment again
Check the invoice- it will say if they limit you to 4 a year on the aligns or what

Vim, did you do the drop yourself or did you take it somewhere? Just wondering as I am going to be doing this project soon and was wondering if 1. you can recommend a good shop or 2. if you could help me out while doing this project... let me know..

thanks 01tl4tl, i might try installing myself since summer is starting soon... any DIY on it?

indoMFP, i took my car to a shop to have the spring installed. one of my friends recommended someone to take the car to, cost $100 to install them... but i think you can install them yourself... there is a DIY on it and it seems fairly easy, plus saves you $100...
also do you post on H-I? (just wondering)

let a shop do the springs if you not familiar with the job
The trip to the emergency room isnt worth the few dollars saving on this one!
camber kit DIY- raise back of car and put jackstands under
remove bolt at each end of bar
remove- match length up on new one and install- tighten bolts- repeat other side
remove jackstands- lower car- check lug nut torque and tire pressure for fun
drive to shop

Thumbs up

my dropp is a 2.2 and a 2.0, of course it will sit lower, so dam it, i will need a camber kit?? Does your tire wear badly? Or do you still have some time to get the camber kit, because im on the same train, just different timing. And by the way your AM looks so sexy with-out a LIP Kit, i always liked that style.....

An alignment check will tell you what the camber readings are
If you cant figure out what a rear upper control arm is- let the same guy doing the shocks do the camber kits

On shocks- you need a special spring compressor to release the pressure they exert against the retaining bolt- failure to do so results in a spring launching into a family member or friend-
many true stories here on zine about lost front teeth $2500!!
or chest injuries- ER visit~
