spring install question
spring install question
when installing springs, do you have to take the axle out of the tranny or is there a way around it? when i got my GC coils installed, they took out the axle but my friend who is gonna help me install H&Rs says there is no need to take the axle out.. thanx for n e help.
No need to remove the axle. But it was a little tricky to get the spring/shock assembly out. I had to turn the steering wheel 1/2 a turn from straight, get the assembly part way out, return steering to straight ahead, then get the assembly the rest of the way out. Reverse procedure to get assembly back in.

my axle shaft popped out when i was installing the last spring.
took FOREVER to pop back in, and to top that the wheel bearing went bad too. jeebus.

actually, the interior cv joint popped out by mistake.
it seems as though it were defective and had too much play.
you don't have to remove the axle shaft to install springs.
just turn the wheel to get better clearance and you should be fine.
