So any ideas as to what could cause this????

Ok so I recently made a post about how I thought my backup camera was causing all the interior lights, dash and gauge cluster included, to dim when I turned on a blinker (either side) they dim opposite of the blinker coming on.... BUT ONLY with the headlights turned completely off?!?!? Anyone have a clue what is going on here? I've checked fuses so far and the tail light grnd in the trunk, other than that only thing that's different is a new double din HU i installed. Had to ground it to the radio cage to get it to work but other than that I havent changed anything. Except to COMPLETELY disconnect the backup cam and the signal wire to the HU that was connected to the reverse light circuit. But now i've cut both of those and its still doing this... I'm lost here HELP PLEASE!!!!!! It's a 2003 TL-S btw.

Chances are, you either had to or inadvertently messed with the grounds behind the radio in the dash, start there.

Ok i've checked grounds and wires everywhere... I can't find anything. Could it be the reverse relay itself?

How is it wired? Where are you getting power from for the cam? Where is it grounded? Where are you getting the reverse signal?

Ok well, even though I disconnected anything to do with the camera and still... same problem. But, I had power for the camera and signal to the HU coming from the GRN/BLK wire for the reverse lights. Knew I could have done it a better way but was in a rush, now that I have it all torn back out though I'll be using the same grn/blk wire to serve as signal to the HU but power for the camera i'm unsure about, mainly because IDK if the camera actually draws power if the HU doesn't have a signal to display the camera. But looking at how it gets it's signal, standard yellow coax, i'm guessing wiring it straight to the battery will leave me with a dead car soon thereafter. I've checked the ground for rear harness in the trunk and the big one behind the radio. Both are perfect. I did install LED bulbs without any kind of load resistors, I know that's the reason my blinkers now blink twice as fast, but could it possibly be the reason for the dimming lights inside the car, dimming exactly opposite of the blinker coming on? Keep in mind this ONLY happens with the headlight switch all the way OFF. If headlights are on... all is normal. Question I wanna ask now is, Anyone out there with LED turn signals W/O load resistors that have just maybe never noticed this??? Maybe getting load resistors would correct this? (Which i'm doing anyway considering everyone thinks i'm a cop when i turn) Maybe its just a power surge of some sort due to the LED's drawing MUCH less power? Then why would the lights in the dash dim?!?!?!?

Remove one led at a time and see if the symptom is still there, must be a shorted led causing a short but not enough to blow a fuse I guess.

I dont have resistors on mine, Just a flasher so no need for load resistors.

Well the LED's I had would flicker, indicating a short, but idk what you mean by "Flashers"? Load resistors are to make them stop blinking so fast. An LED bulb requires MUCH less power than the factory bulb so they blink faster than normal. A resistor or load resistor basically adds in the extra power draw just enough to make the relay work correctly.

Turn signal flasher

This is the flasher that lets you use LEDs without load resistors eliminating hyper flash, It takes place of the existing flasher on the driver side fuse box (not where the fuses are but on the other side of the fuse box).

You can purchase it at your local autoparts but you should check whats causing the problem you're having before buying.

Oh ok yea I've seen these just wasn't thinking. That would be much easier just put in better bulbs so about to see....

Problem solved!!!! The old bulb was from Auto Zone, several SMD led's just naked to condensation, that was my second set and after while both of them started flickering. I ordered some COB sealed LED's w little projectors on the end and made from solid aluminum. Looks nice and no more dimming lights. Next will be that relay for LED's.
