Your plugs are fresh enough that its fine to leave them in.

Try a search for stripped oil plug, I'm sure more than one person has fixed it after a quick change place trashed their car. Just one more reason to find a way to do oil changes at home, a friends, anywhere that your hands are in control.

The seafoam you put in the gas will continue to improve the running as it cleans the injectors while you drive

Good luck on the plug maybe a - helicoil - to replace the threads
Ask at your local parts store too- some have former mechanics working there

If you have a receipt from the place that did your last oil change, they are responsible to repair it or pay for someone else to do it right.

AWESOME, well i gotta get mine seafoamed soon! its like -38 degrees Fahrenheit here..... .... i went to try it the other day.. and my hands were BURNING!!! cuz of the intense windchill.... yes BURNING!! ... plus the Engine hoses were too hard to get at.. i just left it at that... i dunno how efficient it would be to do this when the car is driving around in freezing conditions so gonna put it off til a later day....

I just got my Sparkplugs changed about 3 months ago.... dunno if should replace them after i seafoam it but can't wait..... only main concern i have for my car right now is the rattling.... all thanks to the stupid low profile rims which no one wants to buy from me... 225/40/18s .. going for 600$ CDN, with IKON rims, falken tires.. 3 months old... VOLLY from this forum met me and checked the tires and he will agree that the tires have plenty of tread left on them!

I miss my soft ride....

You wont need to replace your plugs.
Id also wait till its warmer out to fo the seafoam so that you dont damage any of the rubber hoses (they can get brittle in that cold of weather)
Put the oem rims on in the winter. There is more sidewall and will be softer in the cold weather.

You followed the directions on the can and split it in 1/3s Bravo!

I think many over-use the stuff and just create more smoke from solvent burn off than actual increase in cleaning for dollars spent

With only 30k you are good with just one use and no worries

There are some post on how to replace the oil pan if it comes to that

Thanx! When in doubt, follow the directions eh? I actually have closer to 130k, not 30k.l I wish I were still at 30k! Hopefully I wo't have to do the oil pan. A mechanic friend of mie may have a tool to get it stripped off. The last guy I took it to didn't put the washer back on so I'm afraid it's fused onto the pan...i'm crossing my fingers!

How well do you believe this cleans out the intake manifold and what not? Do you think this could solve an EGR ins. flow issue?

Just joined the club, I put it thru the vaccum hose. No noticable difference yet, but I still didnt put any in the crank case. Im waiting till thurs so I can do it then get an oil change. Lots of smoke but seeing as my car has 50k I think it was mostly product burnoff. Hopefully my MPG are a little better

with 127K you may want to wait until just before the next oil change and do another 1/3 each split. Then you should be golden for another 15K assuming you use good gas

Papa Sean
Did you put the WHOLE can in the vac line or split it with the gas tank?
You really do want to put some in the gas, or use Redline or Lucas fuel cleaner, that gets to the inside of injectors which need cleaning too.
Seafoam no doubt cleans the intake manifold and valves and piston tops

You really really really need to take it on a sustained 4000 to 5000 rpm run for 15 minutes or so to superheat the loosen carbon and burn all the solvent off fully
GENTLE DRIVING IS NOT THE PLAN RIGHT AFTER CLEANING- GO BLOW IT OUT!

Enjoy!

lol yea, I took it for a small 'spirited' run maybe for about 2min, but I really couldnt do much since it was rush hour. I put most of it in the vac line but I am skeptical about putting it in the gas tank for various reasons but I might give it a try thurs when I add some to the crank case

Its fine in the gas tank at the recommended rate

You REALLY need to take it for a blow out the junk drive
or if traffic is bad, just hold it in a low gear at 4000 rpms
need to hit vtec a few times as well

Try to do the burn off where there is not a crowd or crowded roadway

If questioned- tell the truth, its carbon cleaner- NOT a massive oil leak laying down fluid on the ground.

You may get a few looks from other cars but thats about it

Have fun!

.. i just did it.. and as i was starting the car.. it struggled.. then i was driving it and the rpm kept going up and down.. finally it settled but there wasn't that smoke... i was expecting it to be massive but just a bit when i first ran the car.. now the car is parked.. i'm at work... i put it to 2nd gear and was going at around 80-90km/h to keep it at 4000RPM... , i hit VTEC a couple of times... still no smoke....

i do feel a lil change but it COULD be psyhological.. so ya dunno...

i put 1/3 into the gas tank, 1/3 into oil place, rest i let it suck up through PCV pipe... maybe i should put more in? should i put another half a can in? let me know guys.. thanks!! this is one of the easiest tune ups ever! i bought an extra seafoam can JUSTTTTTT in case :P

btw, i know we all made fun of that guy who said he experienced "smoother shifts" ... when seafoam clearly has nothing to do with the TRANNY, HOWEVER... i do experience smoother shifts.... in fact.. i didn't even know the gears were changing as i was driving from 0 to about 80KM/h , even when slowing down.. i can barely feel it change...

thats a mystery... neways.. hopefully i get some good input on if i should put more seafoam into the pcv pipe or wait til tomorrow.. thanks!

I would drive it for a day or two to see if it gets any better and burns anything more. Then I'd do it again in same proportions and then change your oil..

Mine took an extra 5-10 minutes before it really started to burn anything...but some ppl here have stated that they never burned anything but there car was in pretty clean condition anyway. So maybe yours was just cleaner than you thought?

well i know my car is clean since my mileage and everything else has been tip top but i mean it does have about 205,000KM on it.. so thats y i wanted to do this... its mainly highway so i guess i'll just wait it out.... plus i JUST did an oil change @ ACURA before i did the seafoam.. the reason y is because i wanted to see if the oil change made a difference or the seafoam... but now i don't mind doing another oil change but do i have to?

thanks 4 da reply. i'll be doing the same proportions tomorrow if i don't see any other results....

No need to do it again so soon. Wait until you are ready for next oil change, maybe 2000 instead of 3000 miles, and do the standard dose as directed.

While you may not have seen the smoke cloud, there was stuff coming out the pipes!

Driving it will continue the cleaning as fuel goes thru the all important fuel injectors
and across the valves.

I always waited to seafoam mine till it was time to change my oil (not at every oil change). I would run one can in the gas tank, 1 can in the crankcase (for a little bit before changing oil) and 1 can sucked up into the intake and let sit for 15+ min. 1 can shared in all those places really isnt much at all

Just want to make sure you warmed the car to normal operating temp with a short drive before seafoam treatment- its the important step, and I may have failed to make it obvious.

My shop teacher Mr Ugggggggggggggggg says- do what you want- wont hurt anything

For straight fuel tank use- I prefer Redline fuel system cleaner every 3 months and Seafoam for the oil and intake method- just my preferance

You could write a TL book (my wife says I ned to write a understanding your car book)
or you could introduce friends to acurazine! That why our sponsors pay to make this site for us. Sharing of information makes us educated consumers who will then buy from Acurazine sponsoring vendors!
This is proven to be one of the most helpful car sites online- good answers and info with minor hassle-kidding among people who consider each other friends!

Wow!! I just Seafoamed by TL and my leather seats are more plush, the air stays in my tires longer, and the radio sounds better! And now the tranny shifts through 6 gears instead of only 5.

you should try adding seafoam to the flux capicter, 0-149 in 3 seconds

lol... well watever.. i know how my car is runnin and i know how efficient it was and is ... so i'm happy with it... - tahts for mr. sarcastic there.. who probably doesn't believe me when i said it shifts smoother (second person to say that by the way)... i laughed like u when the first guy said it.. now i'm getting pwnd.. oh well..

as for u 01super01tl or watever ur name is hehe... yes.. i did warm up the engine before i seafoamed it... but i can't wait to do it again.. and i'm gonna go buy out all the seafoam cans (only 3 left) at carquest since its the only place i know here that i can easily pick one up from instead of dealing with shipping etc...

as for recommending ppl to the site.. well.. i don't ahve any friends who drive Tl's except 1 friend with a 99 TL who isn't into modding and he isn't that great with forums/comp so ya... i wish i had more friends that are into cars, especially Tl's like most of u down in the US....

my friends drive... 04 Civic coupe, 04 Rav4, 99TL, 00'Civic, 97 M3, 04 SRT4, etc... as u can tell... no fun ..
