the can says its safe with synthetic oil, id put in the oil if you plan on getting an oil change within 4 or 5 hundred miles, giving the product a chance to clean out your system. Definatley do your gas & intake.

I was just turned onto a new product that is supposed to be even stronger than seafoam. the guy said it is about the strength of 4 bottles of seafoam. its 20 buck but ill tell you what it worked wonders on my girls car. her car started sputtering and had troubles starting. we put it in and it stoped sputtering withing 10 min. she said it has never run as smooth as it is right now. and it only has about 15 miles of use.

its called BG 44k

If your going to do it i would add it to the oil as well to help clean inside the motor. I used it a few times now and i run synthetic

ok, so i just did the seafoam today, and i'm wondering if y'all noticed improvements immediately? b/c i kinda expected it to run a lil off while it was smoking or what not, but after driving around ~15 miles i think it actually drives worse... do i need more time? it seems to drive fine when i'm no the gas, but when i'm braking to a stop, i kinda feel my motor vibrate like it wants to stall, but not that bad....

Reminds me of when I seafoamed my truck. I used the break booster line but forgot to reconnect it . The car was idling horrible and you had to mash the break pedal really hard to get it to break. I looked under the hood and said what could be wrong oh DRRRR. I would maybe just make sure everything that was disconnected was reconnected properly and also did you follow the instructions from earlier in the thread?

i added 1/2 the bottle of seafoam to my gas tank, but the tank was almost full, y'all think i should add another bottle? since it had so much gas in it? i rarely drive the TL anymore, so i rarely pump gas/ run out of gas...

Your talking about Trans Tune by seafoam. I'm not sure how safe it would be on our trannys. I personally wouldn't use it.

im sure its not going to really help the life of the tranny but it may make it run smoother and more efficently. but for how long the tranny last it wont make a difference.

there would be nothing wrong with using it in your tranny. would not hurt it at all.

well if it was really clogged in there then maybe.
when i installed my headers my first few hundred miles my car shifted like a manual. it reved so fast that when it shifted it engaged faster than the ecu thought it would and i was getting really hard almost like it was being slammed into gear.

now if it really cleaned it that much and if it reved that much faster than maybe but doubtful.

If I excelerate smoothly my tranny shifts much smoother. After running the seafoam though my intake the engine was running smoother alot less hesitation then I was getting before and to me my TL did seem to be shifting a little better after that. Not saying it helped the tranny or anything but because there was less jerking when accelerating I think it helped with shifting smoother. So that may be part of what the previous post was talking about. I ran trans tune in my 96 ford ranger tranny not too long ago and it did help it some but I would be kind of paranoid of running it through the acura's tranny.

This stuff looks pretty awesome, I think I'm going to try some in my TL. I do have a question though:

My dad has an old Ford F-150 (beater) and he thinks there is water in the fuel tank. It starts up fine and runs for a while but sometimes it will turn off. Should he use Seafoam since it is supposed to remove moisture in the fuel tank and lines? Thanks for any input.

It's at my pepboys, I dunno if its carried at all pepboys. It's cheap though, something like $6.99 for a bottle. Why not just try it out to kill your curiosity..

Talking Seafoamed again

I seafoamed again, putting about 8000 KM's since my last sea foam.

This time, when i fed it through the valve it sucked up almost the entire can before the engine stalled.

Good thing i had another can on hand, so basically,

1 can sucked up
1/2 can in the crank
1/2 can in the tank

sat for about 45 mins and went for a drive. THICK WHITE SMOKE for a good 10 min before it fiizzled out.

I am thinking that i am going to need 2 cans each time i do this now.

HIGHLY recommeded for those who have not tried this before.

My Seafoam Experience

After reading all the posts about Seafoam on here, I decided to give it a try. Not that it was running bad before, but I did notice a slight hesitation when taking off from a stop. So I bought two cans - one whole can for the gas tank, and 8oz. (half can) each for the crank case (oil) and the intake. When I sucked it up into the intake I got a fair amount of white smoke. Then I let it sit for about 30min and started it back up, with quite a bit of smoke again. However, when I started it back up I immediately got a check engine light, and though "oh crap what did I do?" I took it for about a 10 mile drive anyways to clean it out a bit. I disconnected the battery and let it sit for another 30min to clear the light. Woila - no more CEL.

It's only been about 30 miles so far, but it is running really well now, with a perfect idle, and I haven't felt the hesitation yet. One thing I also notice, and I don't know why this would be, but it really does feel like it is shifting smoother like others have posted. Maybe it is a placebo effect, but it really is running well now. BTW I have 119k on my 99'. So in case you do get a CEL, don't worry, because I think it is just because I had removed one of the vacuum lines to suck up the Seafoam. I'm also curious to see if my mileage increases...

does it REALLY help?

i mean, you could THINK that it helped, but that may be because you keep thinking that 'yeah, i added something that makes it better, so it should be better' but has anyone done any dynos before and after?

why would you dyno the car after this? it does not add performance...it DOES make your car much smoother though. I had 115k miles on my '99TL when I did it. before, it would always shudder when I started it (the RPMs would go up and drop way down a few times) and sometimes when I sat at a stop light. I used about 3/4 a can through the intake and 1 can in the gas.
I can tell you the car runs like new now. I have used just about every fuel system treatment and I could never tell any difference at all. But now the car idles perfectly even and smooth and really runs much better. Like everyone else, I HIGHLY recommend this to everyone who has not done it before. It is very easy and really does work well.

i wanna seafoam my tl with 85k miles but i dont really want to spend money on buying new spark plugs. could still go ahead with seafoaming my car? i see people talking about the crank case. is that where we pour the oil into?

also if i bought 2 bottles. i would put 1/2 bottle in the intake, 1/2 in the oil, and a bottle into the gas tank. that would be good right?

thanks
