RPM suddenly started jumping!!!

A soon as i started my car this morning the rpm's jumped to 2k,i gave it some gaz and it went down to normal 750ish.This afternoon when i left work it did the same thing so I started driving and at the traffic lights I put it on Neutral and the rpm's started jumping going all the way up to 1500 and then back down to 600. After about 10 mins of driving I put it back to neutral and everything was normal. No codes or anything, could this be a problem with the IACV?Should I remove it and clean it?It's screwed on to the bottom of the TB,right?

You are right, that is the culprit.

If yours is anything like mine was, it was black just like in the IM. I used carb cleaner to clean it, and the corresponding bypass passage in the TB.

1. You don't have to fully remove the TB to take off the IACV. There's two Phillips-head screws that just need to be unscrewed (a stubby screwdriver works best).

2. If you already did remove the TB, I think you need to use a new (TB) gasket. They're just a couple dollars. Someone with more experience on this issue would know whether or not a new gasket is needed if the TB was dismantled with the original gasket intact. The IACV rubber gasket can be reused safely.

I have already removed the TB and reused the same gaskets, maybe i'll just go get some new ones just in case. It's hard removing the IACV without removing the TB.Can't remember what size screws I need for the IACV,I stripped one of them while removing it last time

Instead of removing the TB remove the Whole IM. It has reusable metal gaskets. That way you can clean the EGR Ports while your at it.

That's more of a spring job since it takes more time. For now TB will have to do for now.
