Radiator fan failure.

I beleive one of my radiator cooling fans has failed, or is not being activated.

First, If i remember correctly, one fan is triggered by the heat sensor, and the other is usually on w/ the AC. Which one is which.

Also, can i just jumper 12V power to the unplugged connector to test the fans manually? Or is there a better way to test them?

And finally, would one malfunctioning fan cause a car to overheat while at idle for a long period?

The AC condensor fan is on the passenger side. The one that cools the motor is on the right. Try applying 12v to the motor and see if it runs. May have a bad relay or sensor switch ?

Possibly, it's too dark right now for a test on the motors, but I'll check them tomorrow and go from there.

Both are supposed to turn on for cooling and AC. Test before replacing parts

Driver side fan is a no go. Still have to check it with test leads i guess. To make sure it's not a fuse or relay or something.

What's the price on these things, and do they just slip out with 2 bolts like on my old accord?

Super easy to replace. I replaced mine a few months back by buying a new fan assembly on ebay. I bet the motor is shot (mine was).

Here is the link for the one I bought:
TYC 600710 Radiator Fan Motor/Assembly
http://www.ebay.com/itm/TYC-600710-Radiator-Fan-Motor-Assembly-Engine-Cooling-Fan-Assembly-/300943251574?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item46119d9876&vxp=mtr#ht_1190wt_1161
The only thing I had to do was trim the top thin part of the fan assembly (plastic fin) off so it sits flush with the radiator. Install time was literally 15 mins to pull out the old one and put in the new one.

I tested the power side with a meter, has power. Already have it pulled out. I'll take a look at your link nats007 and probably buy that one.

They want $150 at the auto parts place here.

Thanks again everyone.

Yeah, it's hard to beat $50 for a new fan price. Ya could try calling around some or even check your local salvage yard if ya need it quicker.

Just FYI.

If anyone is going to buy that fan. Use the companies actual website. It's $39.80 there.
