P0700/1740 transmission code

Probably already a thread for something this but the search is timing out. I have a 2000 TL and it is coming up with a P0700 and P1740 code. Would someone tell me what those codes mean?

google them or at the end of our diy master list is all the codes
or the other trans prob threads
codes are clues,, not a direct diagnosis

diy master: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1999-2003-98/new-official-2nd-gen-tl-diy-thread-706083/

what is the mileage, trans history? fluid smell? fluid changed?? oil jet kit installed?
trans ever warranty replaced (blue paint on bolt heads on trans)

The link to the codes is not working for me! Anyone else?

P1740 is popular on this forum.

4th gear pressure switch fault.

There is a thread floating about of a guy who cleaned his, and the code stayed away for a few months. He then replaced the switch. I just ordered the 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches [and a new fuel cap], $125 delivered. I'll post photos of the install.

4th gear pressure switch

I took out both the 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches, hit'em with brake fluid, and reinstalled them.
Didn't see any screens. The switches have metal rings, like the transmission plug uses.
The plastic wire clip has a tab you push in when pulling the clip from the switch.
I pulled just three or four connectors and pulled the wheel well lining down, exposing the side of the transmission.
The 3rd gear switch has a heat shield over it; easy to remove with a 10mm socket w/extension.
There are little "3" and "4" numerals cast into the trans housing, indicating which switch is which.
Oh yea, I raised the car, put stands under it, and pulled the left front wheel.
I have pics, but will post them at a later time.
The new switches are still on order, but I reset the light for now, and will monitor mileage and drive cycles.

A fault on the pressure switch pictured below can evidently cause the P1740 code.

Similar situation

I'm having a similar problem with my 2000 TL... TCS and CEL are on, codes are P0740 and P1740. I have noticed a slight drag or slip between 3rd and 4th gear. Would cleaning the pressure switch help with the slip?

We have the same car.

I found the best resuts after the 3x3 trans oil replacement.
Every year or 30,000 miles.

As far as cleaning, I bought two [still uninstalled] pressure switches. $100 delivered.
I cleaned the old ones, and still have not had the lights come back on.
Wanting to move forward without parts in hand, I cleaned only.

But consensus seems to be that because of the age of the car, I'd be best off replacing,
and that I'd notice the difference.

Your issue might want viewing at from both angles, but the oil would be my first look.
