Need major advice on pro audio...
Whats up people...just got a new Blue TLS...great car...i will wait on the mods for a while...but I am putting in a system...and need some advice...I am putting in MBQUART Q's in the doors ( i would like to go to ron to get this done...)
Now...the questions...?
1. Can 6.5 inch speakers fit in ALL the doors (work and cutting is ok)?
2. Can I put another pair of 6.5 inch speakers in the rear deck...one on the right and left of the sub...
3. Which sub would you get if you had the money?
OR
The audiobahn is 2000 watts RMS and the Eclipse is 750...
(also...if you think another sub is better...i will consider anything.)
4. What amps would you recommend running for this setup???
Thanks a lot!!!

A lot of my friends used to have MTX's as their first subs...They all say they are nothing more than OK...reason is...MTX says that they have a crapload of power...but they will never reach it, because they will blow. Plus...bang for the buck usually means high wattage and crappy quality sound. I want aluminum subs, cause they are very hard to blow, and sound better than any other ones...but thanks for the advice...
Pheonix Gold makes nice amps, and Soundsteam. Sounds like you will need over a 100 watts to each speaker. Going to take a BIG amp.
Let us know what you decide on, what it takes to install it, and pics of the final install.

IMO
I used to install this junk in the 90's so
IMO u should go with an amp for the front and one for the back. separate amp for the sub. It give u more tweaking options. At least keep the sub separate. more amps than that is just for more power. but don't be shy with the power to the front if you got MB quart. U will have trouble overmodulating those speakers.
My dream sys in a acura TL would be 100 watts per side in the front. 100 per side back and as much base as u want. Actually the speakers in the back could be removed with 100 watts in the fronts. but.....
for me about 300 too 500 max watts of sub would be good. Any more power then that is just unbarable and just for show. u can't enjoy it imo. hehe.
just my 2 cents

ive heard only good things about eclipses
besides those audiobahn cones look hella small.. why is it that the rubber surruond takes up like half the cone space? I dont see that pushin as much air.. but whatever
what i really like are those new kicker solo-barics.. you know those square subs.. then you can stack like 9 subs in your trunk and win every spl comp you get into... while also exponentially increasing the amount of squeaks and rattles in your car.

it's "bass" not "base"....
and just bc you have loud mids up front, doesn't mean you take your rear speakers out...
some competition ppl do this, but many agree it ruins the sound imaging. 4 speakers esp. in a car the size of the TL is a must. With two, you'll have a flat sound stage, lacking the fullness that a complete 4 speaker setup will provide (not counting the tweets).
i run 2x12s around 500w RMS, and even that's not enough sometimes... back when i was big into audio, i almost blew 4-5gs on a custom job to squeeze 4-15s into the trunk of my old car (Integra), pushed by two soundsteam (1000w RMS each) amps.
but each to his own...

Well...let me tell you what I am shooting for...I want 3 pairs of Speakers...(means 6 tweeters and 6 midrange) [front doors, rear doors, and custom install rear deck]
I want to run 120-150 watts to each speaker (max is 170 on them)....next...amps...Rockford 800a4 and 800a2 i was told would be good for the speakers...
Now the subs...the audiobahn subs are very very expensive...almost 1000 dollars a sub....I was told Audiobahn(assuming you have money) are the best subwoofers money can buy...period.
I want each sub to push 1000 watts (i wont have it cranked up the whole way...i just want amps that if needed - can push that)
I hope streeteffectz can shed some light on this...also hope he can hook me up real good at his shop.
Has anyone replaced the stock sub in the TL...and has anyone added speakers to the rear deck???

why just put speakers up front/ramblings
most ..actually all competition setups usually have just the high imaging comming from up front.
LOL bass hehe not base. TU
Best advice ever is listen to what u are buying before u put it together. If you u are going to a reputable dealer they will have cars of their own decked out for u to hear. try to sit in something similar in size to the TL of cource. or goto some competitions and check out your car.
We used to love to sell stuff to rich kids that wanted to fill every inch up with speakers, but when we got done the more basic the set-up the better. We put 35k worth of junk in this guys van and our 6k system sounded better. He had major SPL, but after about an hour of that you just get a head ache anyways hehe.
unless you have a truck or u just want shere volume and u don't care if it sounds like crap, the just fill your car up with speakers. but it sounds like you have a good idea with what u are doing. Once you get all your stuff put in, try disconecting the rear speaker and see how it sounds. u will have to turn the volume up higher with only the front going.
I seen a guy with 20k - 30k watts from a PA system (plugged into the AC at the shop) in the back of a van just cranking to see how much spl we could get and it wasn't much higher then a regular system. So how much is enough.?
We had to put the PA stacks in V shape to get all 4 in the van. It was a joke. just for fun...

Personally I would go with something like this:
Focal Utopia 165W - Front Doors
Focal Utopia Audiom 6W - Rear doors
you can put these in the rear deck if you want as well.... but I doubt it will help much. You want to keep the sound stage up front.
Focal Utopia 27WX - Sub
I personally like smaller subs as they have a tendency to be more accurate. You can get big ones that handle more power... but you will lose some of the accuracy. Overall I think focal makes some of the best speakers around and most importantly... they sound good with just about any type of music.
As far as amps go... I like the new JL Audio Amps... but I have no clue what to use for rear fill....
I would get a JL Audio 300/2 for the fronts and a 500/1 for the sub.
Personally I wouldn't be running this much power and would get something a little cheaper.... but as you are looking at the high end.... this is what I would get if I had the money.

McIntosh amps is a good choice. MC4000M would be a fine choice of amps. 100 x 4 and 300 x 2. If you need more power there are other choices of McIntosh amps out there.
The Eclipse Subs seem sweet. I am sure you will not go wrong with either one though. Quality sub, in a QUALITY enclousure, with quality power!
Which ever the set up you choose you might want to also invest into your electrical system. You are talking about some heavy current draw, a new alternator might be needed. Just a thought and just my $.02.
