Question NEED HELP WITH DECISION on LIGHTS

What do I do? I just picked up my brand new '02 TL-S. I want to change the fogs, but I don't know what to do...

Do I match my stock low beams with 4500k fogs?

(or)

Do I upgrade even more and have 6000k fog with 4500k stock low beams?

(or)

Do I get the 6000k fogs to eventually upgrade my low beams to 6000k?

Does it look too bright to have 6000k low beams and fogs? Is that legal?

Looking for answers....much appreciated!

well, if i were you i would get the 6k fogs now and upgrade my low beam to 6k as well asap. it's well worth it. and no, they are all street illegal and you can get pulled over for that. but heck, it's hard for them to prove it too

Have you seen a TL with 6000k low beams & fogs? Is there a great difference between the 2 types?

I'd like to see the photo. If anyone else has good pics, throw them up too. I've been talking to a guy who can get me the 4500k/6000k and he recommends doing both sets in 6000k. I also don't want to spend too much $$$ right now. I just bought the damn car!

6000k isnt necessarly brighter but they look tight as hell.....with dual 6000k you wont have a problem with visibility as well as getting pulled over.....audi with projectors at some angles give off 8000k temp color....so you'll be fine.....dual 4500k gives you best visibilty and is cost effictive.....dual 6000k is TIGHT but more money, if money wasnt a problem...i would get dual 6000k.....just my 2 cents

I heard from Sylvania that higher temp foglights are DOT approved but not higher temp headlights. So maybe you can legally use 6000k bulbs in the fogs, but in the headlights is illegal.
Would a cop be able to verify this anyways? HID is HID as far as they can really tell. No instruments to objectively measure the color temp are issued to cops.

the only way to really tell if a bulb is 6000k is to measure it with a photometer....plus.....regular 4500k bulbs after break in they normally get higher in color temperature...ive seen the old school mark V with light thats almost pure BLUE and they are dot approved.....evem audi and bimers on the freeway are seen to be pitch PURPLE try rating that light color......gotta be over 8000k but either way....you should have NO problem what so ever with 6000k.

Sweet...thanks for the info guys. It looks like I'm going to have to go with the 6000k bulbs. Now the question is, can I afford both sets right now???

How much will it be to just convert the fog to 6K? How much will it be to do both low and fog with 6K? What about high beam?

I've heard that the best brand for 6000k bulbs is Philips. For your fogs, you can find them on the Internet for $580 to $600. I have not seen how much it is for low beam/high beam 6000k.

Does anyone else know?

to be honest.....philips is just another name brand......there are other companies that are 10x better but how much better can it actually be? here are some companies out there

Bosch
Hella
Osram(bulbs)
Sylvania
Vison
Piaa
CATZ ZETA
Denso
etc.....

Philips was just the first to flood the market with ballast and bulbs...i guess in a way they been the oldest after market brand....even tho their not really....only thing that matters is system color temperature.........4000k-8000k watever you get the sole element that makes the difference is the Xenon/phosphor gas used in the bulbs!!! also there is no highbeam system for our car that is xenon HID......
