it's mold, you need to clean the AC filters. some bacteria build up.

It's suppose to happen after a while, whether you drive an Acura or a Mercedes, almost inevidable. Dealer will just spay lik Lysol and smell comes back again, and spray again, smell comes back, and now you'r out of warranty.

Exclamation asif....

...is it a musty smell?

That's your good, old Honda AC. You can replace your Micron air filter (did mine recently) but that won't help. It's just something that builds up in your vents due to moisture condensation. You can aleviate it (somewhat) by turning off your AC a couple miles before your destination and letting air vent into the cabin. That will "dry out" your vents and hopefully reduce the smell. Worked for me.

My old Accord had the same problem. It is condensation in the pipes, and has that distinctive "wet dog smell". This happens most when it's humid out, or when you haven't used your AC for a while.

There's an easy way to dry out your vents. Manually turn on your A/C, turn off recirculation, and set the temperature higher than the cabin temperature so that the heater comes on, and turn up the fan. This will blow hot, dry air through your vents and dry them out. Don't forget to let air flow through the footwell vents and rear passenger vents as well.

mildew is the cause

You have mildew on your a/c evaporator. This is a natural thing and will build up on the a/c evaporator of any car over time since your evaporator is quite cold and will condense moisture on it. You can get this cleaned for ~$100. Some dealers offer this service. If not, I'm sure you can find a car shop that would do it for you. Lysol in the vents is a temporary fix.

remember to always leave your ac on vent not recirculate after u get the temp in the car at a comfortable level, that way u always have clean dry air coming in and alleviate some of the mold build up...

had that problem in my 92 Accord. 3 miles before reaching your destination, turn up the temp, full blast the fan, and blow hot air thru all vents (footwell, defrost, ect). that should dry out and kill all the stinking molds.

I have not had this problem at all with my TL in the 2yrs of ownership. I do know the scent you have the pissy scent I had this in my 94 ACCORD & my 90 ACCORD. I run my A/C most of the time except winter months. Like (Outlook) posted you have to keep the button in thefresh air green mode most of the time. If you have the yellow REC button pushed this smell will sure come.
So just have the FRESH AIR green lit button pushed. Only use the REC yellow button to keep out smoke from car or bad smells from outside air. Also replace the 2 A/C filters if the car has over 20,000 miles or is 2yrs old.

Yes, you can change them yourself. It's located right behind the glove box. I gotta change mine soon.
