maintenance required light!

I tried doing a search but my computer is way too slow. The maintenance required light turned on and i dont know how to turn it off. I tried holding down the reset button while starting the engine for 5 seconds and it didnt work. I tried that like 3 times. In my accord thats how i usually do it. Can somebody please shed some light!

push and hold the two buttons, turn on car until #2, and keep holding them until it goes off. when you turn it to #2, all the lights will turn on, then off, then the maint will come back on, then after like 10 sec or so it will turn off for good.

Read your manual, I believe it shows you in there how to turn the light off.

I was just about to post about this. My 'maint. req' light was staying on for a few seconds each time I started the car. Someone jested 'just wait til it stays on for good' - which it is now doing. I've had really bad luck with cars and don't want to take this too lightly. Should I take it in to the dealer, or use the tips above to just turn the light off? If I reset it and it comes right back on should I then assume there is something wrong... Also in the above post the 'two buttons' are the "select" and "reset" buttons used for switching between trip odometers right? Thanks in advance for the help.

Don't worry about the light. It's merely a reminder that's linked to the odometer. It comes on at pre-determined intervals and does NOT tell you that there's a problem.

The Check Engine Light is the one you need to watch for. That one only illuminates when there is a problem.

when it comes on for like 5 secs then goes off, its telling you its time for an regular service soon. that comes on before each 7500 interval. the light comes on for good at every 7500 interval. its basically a timer, like radams said. resetting it just makes it go away till the next 7500 miles. but you should be changing oil less than 7500 anyways, even though you could go that long.

Yes its nothing to worry about my light is has been blinking for the last 3 weeks. I have very low mileage on my car.
My 2000TL is 18months old with about 14,000 miles. I am do for next service about the 22 of July or 14,493 miles. I will have the miles. I was in for last service on April 25, for oil change the car hit 11,000 miles on April 30. I have driven the car more in the last 3 months. I reset my light the last time myself because the dealer did not reset it. I just let it blink to remind me that service is do soon.

worked like a charm

Thanks guys! I held the buttons and started the car. Sure enough no more light. I was just about to head into the dealer. Saved me a trip. Cool.
