Just got the Valentine for the TL

Well i bit the bullet and sold my escort 8500 x50 for the Valentine V1 1.8. What do you guys think of the V1? The only issue i have from switchin is the display. its very basic compared to the x50. The arrows are defi a nice touch. I was lookin into the escort 9500i.

Im lookin into the concealed display unit but have no idea where to mount it. any suggestions from v1 users?

i still prefer the escort product over the V1. my original 8500 blows away the V1 i have. My next upgrade will be the 9500. arrows are cool but the escort display shows much more info and less false alarms

well its not a cop detector its a radar/laser detector. it only goes off if the cop has radar or laser on

I need to upgrade from my Cobra.. However, it isnt that bad because I get used to where the cops sit at certain points and what times. Its a everyday thing or at least every other day, cops are checking speeds on main streets.

I've had my V1 for a number of years. I rarely use it while I'm in VA and mostly use it on long road trips.

For the concealed display I put it under the change holder. You have to glance down if the detector goes off but it's worked out well for me. I've also thought about tucking it up in the left corner of the windshield by the A pillar. I'll post pics if your interested.

Have always been happy with my V1 1.8. It only works if laser/radar is activated.

It's saved me a couple times. At least enough times to make it worth it for me to have it. Cops in New England leave their radar on all the time so you can spot a speed trap from miles away.

Pic's of concealed display mounting location. I tuck the radar detector itself up behind the rear view mirror with the rear sensor just to the right side of the mirror.

Sorry for the poor quality. As you can tell my camera phone is teh suck.

yeah, I can still open it. I have the concealed display mounted with military grade velcro so that if it gets in the way I can just pull it off and re-attach it. It only gets in the way in the winter when the cord gets stiff.

I'll post pics of where I mount the suction cup holder. I actually leave the holder on the windshield all the time and just slide the V1 in when I want to use it. That way I don't have to keep licking those damn suction cups.

Here's where I have mine mounted in my CL. I put the concealed unit near the steering column so I wouldn't have to take my eyes off the road, plus it's in easy reach. I put the V1 itself high and to the left in just the right position so that I could still use the visor and not block the rear antenna. An added bonus is you can hardly see it from the outside, so I don't have to worry (too much) about theft.

Mounted on the gauge bezel, not the column for better asthetics

Mounted just below tint strip on the black dots (takes some work to get it to stick)

Still have full use of RVM and visor, plus the visor doesn't block the rear antenna
