Installed Megan headers and AEM short ram today. Do I have a problem?

Hello all, I installed my headers and sram today. I didn't really have much of a chance to try it out on the way home, so when I got home I put the car in neutral and tried to rev it to hear what it sounds like.

After revving it at 3000rpm I decided to take it up to 6000, the problem is that the needle stops revving past 5000 and bounces back. Is there a rev limiter for the car when it is in neutral? Or is this a problem?

lol...don't flame me please. I did a search right after I posted this and realized there is a rev limiter for neutral.

congrats on your install. Now wait 3 to 5 days after you reset the ecu to feel the power. Please post feedback and the pros and cons so we can discuss it.

Is there any difference by a) installing the headers and intake at the same time or b) installing one and letting the ECU adjust and then installing the other?

I think it wouldn't matter because you have to reset the ECU anyways, but can someone assure me that it doesn't matter?

The reason for the rev limiter at that RPM is because you don't want to engage VTEC in neutral. That would be quite pointless.

and quite harmful if i can add to what you just said

its like when a transmission craps and it drops into neutral while accelerating .. you hit vtec in enutral and it just sounds like the motor is crying

VTEC doesn't engage unless in Drive, anyway. When you're driving next time, try throwing it in neutral while in motion. It will let you rev above the neutral rev limit, but VTEC won't kick in.

Reset the PCM. It shouldn't take 3-5 days to feel the difference. That's only with the pulleys. In my case, I felt the difference with CAI and headers right away after resetting the PCM.

Have fun.

You can do it the easy way by just disconnecting the battery for about 1min or unless you want to do the ecu.

The PCM will "adjust" itself over time. To "reset", disconnect the battery for a while. Have your radio anti-theft code handy, because the stereo won't work.
