How to make Mesh Wire stick to the bumper's plastic

Hey again all of you fellow TLers... i've started like 10threads this week...i must be very bored and have a lotta free time...oh, yeah, my gf dumped me.

I cut my fogholes a long time ago (neatly), and my CAI seems to love it exept for the millions of FL bugs that go thru that hole...not that the mesh will stop this

*with the bumper off
I cut out 4pieces of mesh wire (same as my mesh grille) that will go on the back of the holes i cut (looks better) i put em there and used a silicon glue gun to make the wire stay there...but NO, it fell after a week.

I need to know how i can make 2 sheets of mesh wire (1 ontop of the other) stick to the bumper's plastic.

Thanks in advance,
etxxx

I would say use HOT glue, the black nasty crap they use in Car Stereo shops, basically just melted plastic. That will most likely work. You should also use a knife or something and make some cuts in the plastic to give it something to hold on to. Don't sand the area as the glue won't really stick to that. I did basically the same thing on my del Sol when I owned it, worked great for 2+ years till I sold it. You might also try drilling small holes and using some zip-ties in areas that you won't be able to see. This helps too.

just use a couple of plastic ties. I don't know if there is anything to tie it to but that's how I have my grille on and you can hardly see it.

I used ABS glue (plummer's glue for abs type pipes), since our bumpers are abs plastic; it should stick well. You can glob it, just be careful not to let it run out to much.

Our bumpers are urethane, not ABS plastic. Plus it has a coating of paint with clear coat.

Thanks for the info duds, points for d-99TL Dscondrel and hzm...i took all your ideas (exep zip tie ideas...i was talking about fogholes not grill anyways) and combined it into this:

I used clear Epoxy (Z-poxy)...that really nasty glue that comes in 2 tubes because of its incredible strength. i had some left + i had extra gutter wire from my grill so it came out cheaper than i though.

Anyhows, i spent the past 4hours doing it very carefully because i didnt want any of that stuff on my paint. But, it came out SOOooo ill that i shat my pants when i put the bumper back on.

THANK YOU!!

BTW all those looking to do this mod, its VERY easy as long as you can take you bumper off and it looks very nice...

it's ghetto if you can see it. hence why there's colored ties now. trust me, you can't see the ties, as long as your do it from under the car.

No prob, you should get some pictures up of the mod, I have been thinking about doing something similar since I think it would help get more cool air to the filter which sits basically right behind the hole.
