Angry How do I remove (someone else's) paint?

My wife slid into a parked car as she backed out of our driveway...

There is now (in addition to some deep scratches) a large streak of blue paint on the corner of the bumper.

Pending a total fix, is there any way I can rub the other car's paint off of the bumper, leaving only our own NBP paint and some deep, black scratches?

Thanks!

Another option is any type of car paint cleaner. Try Meguiars, the paint cleaner and polish work wonders.

Good Luck.

Use ClayMagic.....you should be able to get it in Pepboy stores. You can also use ClayMagic all over the body of the car and it will remove all small nearly invisible impurities stuck onto the car's body. Basically, the car's body becomes silky smooth once you are through with the claying.

I agree that Meguiars will do the job. Body Scrub/Paint Cleaner.

Good Luck!

I backed into a Blazer's bumper/license plate and got his paint on my bumper along with some scratches.

I used Mother's Scratch Remover and all that is left is 2 deep scratches. I was pretty happy with the results.

Smile Thank you, gentlemen!

I'll let you know what I end up using, and how it turns out.

hunter001 ,

I think there's way too much paint for ClayMagic to work; That seems to be best for really small imperfections. This one's visible from 50 feet!

I just removed a 2in white paint streak/scratch from my passenger side door last week using a clay bar. You cant even telll that it was ever there. I used very light pressure and alot of elbow grease. At first it didnt seem like it was going to take it off but after ~10sec it started coming right off. I would try a clay bar first before you try anything drastic.

Arrow Success...

I ended up using the Meguires' Clay Bar. It took me about 45 minutes to rub out a 3" x 7" area, but I was able to get all of the foreign paint off. Then I washed and waxed.

Now, all that's left is the actual (deep) scratches in the bumper. This is where it's good to have a black car; The scratches blend into the finish, and from more than about 10 feet away, you don't even notice the scratch.

So, that's life in the big city.

Thanks for the help, guys!

How about removing another cars paint which has been on for about two years? (I'm stupid for not taking it off sooner).

Thumbs up xylene!

a chemical called xylene, you can find commercially "goof off" this will take all paint off any clearcoat without damage. also takes off everything else! what took 45 minutes with a clay bar would be gone in 60 seconnds!!! as you rub out the paint, i find soft paper towels work best plus you want to dispose of the towels in a ziploc baggie and throw away! this stuff is serious! also wear latex gloves , the least exposure to your skin the better ! as well as the fumes, don't breathe it in too much ...whew! as you wipe off the paint, go over it with a wet cloth right away, then wax the area. i know it sounds toxic, but the stuff really works, and fast! hope this helps...kman156
