Rear Seat Bottom

How does one remove the rear seat bottom? And, is there any significant storage space under there?

Thanks.

There is a screw in the passenger side to remove. This is the first step. Fold passenger rear seat down, then pull back the cargo cover "flap" that rests against the back of the seat back. Look down in the gap you have created. You will see the metal "post"/"hook". Unscrew that screw that attaches that "hook" to the floor board. This is very hard to reach and have to unscrew from the back - not enough room/angle to do so coming from the top. Again, not an easy task. Can be done but with patience.

Next, there are two "hooks" just under the bench that fit into a latch. These are on either side of the rear bench. Press down on the seat bottom while "pinching" the latch and the hook will release. Do both sides. Then you can remove the bench.

I am in process of doing this on the 2016 and did it on the 2013 as well. This is to install GT seat covers. It is not easy to remove the bench but can be done if you know what to do and are patient.

There is no room under the bench for anything. Unless you have to remove it to install seat covers as I am doing, I would advise against it.

Your dealer service dept. can provide you with exact instructions to remove the bench. That's how I learned.

Thanks for the info. BTW why does the OP want to remove the seat? To create storage space for some "items"? That sounds ominous.

I shoot competitively and feel that "out of sight is out of mind", particularly where firearms are concerned.

I really appreciate the excellent response HOFL. I'm convinced from your response to put this idea out of my thoughts.

Thank you!!!!!
