Hellllp Someone Please Helllllp
Hellllp Someone Please Helllllp
Imma make this quick. Yesterday when i was dropping my friend off somewhere, my friend forgot to close his door. And i reversed, and you all probably figured it out already. The door went into a parked car.
Now you have to slam on the door in order to close it. And when i open it, it just pops open. Its not extremely damaged, just need to be readjusted thats all. Can anyone tell me how much it is to fix it? Can I take it to the dealer since its still under warranty? even though i doubt the dealer will fix that problem. I dont want my parents to find out and i need your help. I always check my doors everytime, just not that one time. Made me mad. Thanks to all that will help me out.
P.S. I also noticed that after the door accident, i press the lock button once, it locks, i press it again, it beeps and and after everytime i press the lock button, it beeps everytime i press it. I always knew that it doesnt beep everytime i press the lock button. It just beeps every other time i press it. Should i worry about this and take it to the dealer or nah?

Dude,
It's not a little "adjustment". You either bent the frame where the door attaches to the body of the car or the door frame where the hinges are attached. The dealer will be able to tell right away what happened and it's obviously not covered as a defect under the warranty.
Good luck...

I take that back, its not an "adjustment". Do you guys know how much it is to fix? Its not expensive is it? There is a little dent in the door frame also. And you know the gap between each end of the doors, well one end of it is bigger then the other end. I can fit my pinky on one end, and nothing on the other end. By the way, it happened on the rear left door.
it might be expensive b/c doors are heavy believe it or not, plus they have to take your whole door apart to fix the hinges ,and pray there is no damage to the body inside becuase then its more than just your dorr coming off. its not easy at all. might run you a few g's . sorry to put i that way but its try. you can never tell how much damage there is until you take it aprt and put it back together.
good luck
good luck
Yeah, you can't really estimate the damage until you can take it apart and see what happened. Its probably just the hinge. If the door is dented then you'll probably need a new door skin which is pretty cheap by itself but it needs to be welded on and painted. Probably cost under $1000 to fix the whole thing if you need a new door skin. They might be able to just repair the dent without changing it though. Like I said, you need someone to look at it.

BTW, I would rather go to a well known body shop than an Acura dealer because Acura will probably rip you off and the work wont be as good. If you're in NY then I know a REALLY good guy. I'm bringing my car there tomorrow to fix a dent and to roll my quarter panels. I've seen alot of his work and it is excellent.
Im not really worried about the little door ding, im just worried about the door not closing right. I dont see any other damages in the door hinge or anything yet. I wasnt goin real fast when i reversed either. The main thing im worried about is the door not closing right, thats about it.
Thanks for your help.

Im not in the New York area but you said that you know a really good guy and you said that his work is almost like there hasnt been any damage done to it? How much does he charge? Maybe body shops around here might charge the same. Can you tell me the price he charges? How long does it take to do it?
Thanks

It's your car. If your friend bumped into the rear view mirror on his/her way out of the car, then you got into an accident 'cause you didn't see behind you, is that your friend's fault, or yours for not adjusting the mirror?
It sucks that your car got damaged, and I'm really sorry for the impending cost. Just don't go after your friend.

I agree that you should take it to the dealer. As for your friend paying, that's a little unfair. Sure, your friend left the door opened, but *you* backed up and damaged your car. Any damage to the other car?

Go to the dealers and a couple of body shops to get some estimates on it. Very hard to say how much or what the problem is, could be very minor or could be a lot of work to align it all properly, bringing it back to specs as much as possible, etc. Just don't try to scrimp on costs and then end up with some poor quality fix. It's gonna costs more in the long run in many ways.
Good luck and let us know what you come up with.

That's normal. Pressed once and the doors lock; press the lock button again within 2-3 seconds and you'll hear the beep. Continue to press and it'll continue beeping. That's normal.
