Getting high-beamed all the time cuz of HIDs?
Getting high-beamed all the time cuz of HIDs?
I noticed that ever since I've gotten my TL-S that people have started high beaming me a lot. Sometimes it is drivers coming the other way, sometimes it is drivers who were in front of me and then pulled off to make a turn or something similar.
I could understand if I was driving like a crazy maniac, but there have been a few times where I was doing the speed limit and simply driving behind somebody at 40mph staying a good distance from them for 40mph.
Does this happen to a lot of TL-S drivers or do I need to take my car into the dealership to get the headlights aligned? I thought perhaps it was just that people with normal lights dont understand the whole HID thing, but there was one time somebody driving the other direction with HIDs highbeamed me!
I've checked the alignment a few times by standing in front of the car with the headlights on, by driving up to the garage door with the lights on, and by having the lights on when I'm in an empty area, and all suggest that the lights are aimed downwards and not upwards.
I'm leaning towards stupidity of other drivers, but I was wondering if this happened to a lot of other members?

Same here. I get flashed quite a bit.
One time on the highway some a-hole slammed on his breaks in front of me. When I passed him he got behind me and put his beams on me. I slowed way down, and when he passed me I got behind him and showed him my real beams. He took off after that.

Hmm, glad to see its not just me. I don't understand what the big deal with HIDs are ... They're noticeable because they're a different color than Halogens, but they don't burn my eyes nearly as much as Halogen lights do....
Oh well, maybe once they become more common people will stop highbeaming me

well when people high beam me... i do a little trick to turn on ur fog lights, high beams, and low beams all at once. first u turn on ur fogs with the low beams on. then uclick the stick to turn on ur highs. when u do this the fogs will tunr off. then u click the stick again but hold it so that the fogs turn on. then u have all ur lights on. turns from night to day with just a few clicks.
I do that too. Once a SUV on the opposing direction waiting at the light (red) to go left. He flashed me thinking that I had high beams on. Then I flashed him my real high beams (Piaa super plasma).

If you want to find out how bad they are, have a friend drive his car the opposite direction of you, and then he can tell you if they are too bright, or if people are just stupid.
Aren't the HID's less wattage than Halogens?

People are just jealous of our intimidating look
I'll have to try out the ALL lights gag... I didn't know that it was possible to have the fogs, HIDs and high beams all on at once... People will think that they have been pulled over by a cop with all the bright lights in their face!
WE RULE, and the average beater-mobile driver can't handle their envy... They probably flash you while they are driving around with one headlight burned out hehehe:smokin:

I've even been flashed by a 18 wheeler truck driver... I was like WTF?? Your like 10 feet higher than my cars headlights how could it affect you??? anyway, it happens... Ours arn't as annoying and *****y as the benz and others though but compared to normal headlights ours are still ***** to other drivers.
