Gear Changes at what RPM?

At what RPM should gears change?

Normal Driving

1st gear to 2nd gear at what RPM?
2nd gear to 3rd gear at what RPm?
3nd gear to 4th gear at what RPm?

I just wondering because it seems the longer I drive the car the higher the gear changes. Thanks.

if you are easy on the gas pedal... and assuming you have a '99? (since you only mentioned up to 4th gear)

i would say... 1st to 2nd about 3 to 3.5k, 2nd to 3rd upper 2 to lower 3k, and 3rd to 4th 2.5 to 3k. thats how i shift using SS when im just crusing and not zipping around traffic

I'd have to say I shift at about 6k Just kidding.

If I was very aware of wasting gas, I usually shift between 2.5-3. But if I was just driving casually, I shift at about 3.5k.

Also doesn't the ECU adapt to our driving habits? Maybe the higher RPM changes is due to your driving habits.

it all depends on where your foot is on the gas pedal and your rate of acceleration

This may sound novice, but bear with me:
Let's say I am in 3rd going 65-70, than I need to slow down to 25 mph and than go back to 65-70......
Would I not have to downshift at all?
Would i need to shift up again to get back to 70 from 25 after the slow down?

The reason I ask is because the car reads whatever gear you in until you stop completly.
I'm sorry I can't explain it any better.....

The SportShift will not upshift for you. You can sit in your car and hit the rev limter all day, and it won't upshift.

However, it will downshift for you as you slow down. If you're not compeletely stopping and need to get going, then downshift and blip the throttle at the same time lightly to rev match. You don't have to, but it's more fun.

Thanks for the reply. The reason why i ask this question is because after I drive for an hour and a half i feel it takes the automatic transmission longer to change gear. (Tranny Problem?)
