This I live in this building... my dorm's on the seventh floor.
I'll be on the second to top floor when I start really getting into the conversion to protect myself from rain, etc.
I'll have another vid for you guys tonight.
Here's what've done today:
Removing the glove box, seats, floor carpeting, foot-handbrake. More to come soon!

Glad it's going along smoothly for you. We should have a huge TL meet at your dorm and all work on the car. haha. It would get done in half the time depending if you had all the parts or not.
Can't wait till it's all done, the best part is that when it's finished you can sit back and enjoy what you accomplished. Best feeling in the world when it comes to cars.

ChrisQ1980 is right. I can't help but feel awesome whenever I finish a car project I didn't think I'd be able to accomplish. All I know is that when I start this I have already enlisted the help of three friends, and found a garage to do it in

********** By the way guys... if any of you are in florida, I have news for you. When it comes to renting an engine hoist in the state of florida, it is ILLEGAL. I know... I was pissed when I was informed of this myself. THe only way to use one for the conversion is if you actually buy one. Autozone has theirs for $250, and Advance Auto Parts has theirs for $150. They both can support the weight of the engine + tranny. I've asked a police officer I know down here to make sure what I was told from many places wasn't a lie. Kinda sucks

^ now that would be awesome. I was wondering, for the engine + tranny.. would I need a 1 ton or 2 ton shop crane? I don't see any options for renting a crane.. just buying one.
If i do buy one, what am going to do with it after i'm done with it?

Alright, when I take out my engine this coming week, the old one.. it's in incredibly good shape, is it possible to sell it to any yards around so I can gain some money from it?
It seriously sucks though that I have to part with it for this conversion. I've grown to it.

That has to be one of the :ghey:'est things ive heard. Renting a engine hoist is illegal??? What would the logic behind that be?
I know my Sams Club has them. Dont know if you have a membership or one near by to check?

Joe,
Check your local Craigslist.org for used engine hoists.
Here's a sample search of the Tampa Bay area Craigslist but you can also try the other Florida areas:
http://tampa.craigslist.org/search/s...engine%20hoist
You never know what you'll find on Craigslist. That's how I found my 1999 TL.

Progress Report
Tonight, at 1am... Just walked out.. removed the radio, air vent, dashboard garnish, and gauge cluster. Tomorrow, I'll start disconnecting and removing the transmission.
Picking up the engine very soon. I'll have to get a uhaul truck for this event. Anyone close by want to come along for this fiasco? lol

Joe, if you can find the 2 ton get that. It will be better built and safer. Also look for a Equalizer. it will help you level and tilt the motor for easier in and out. They can be found in most parts stores, jegs, harbor freight.. . as for the trans, honestly pull the engine and trans out all in 1. there is no need to separate them to pull them out. (it will save you alot of time) then separate them out side the car

Meet... The 3.2 Type-S
Only paid $700 + tax for it with 23,000 miles on it. After getting the sensors, harness and used ECU, it'll be good to go.
