can an engine from an 04 05 tl be swaped into an 02 tl-p?

i found an 04 05 engine w/only 20 miles on it for only 3000. just wondering if its possible. besides theres not much diff between a typ s and a p. cams, throttle body, im doing all that all ready. it was just a thought

 

Find a J32A2 out of an '03 CL-S 6-speed. J32A2 has much higher potential than the J32A3 in the 3G TL. With the current offerings from the aftermarket, you can achieve *maybe* 300 hp with the A3, except for supercharger.

With the J32A2, you can achieve 330 hp easily with bolt-on's before going forced induction.

Either way, you'll have to rewire the car so that shouldn't really affect your reasoning. However, what should affect your reasoning is that the chassis were the same for the J32A2 between the CL and the 2G TL, and it will MUCH easier to drop in an A2 6-speed out of an '03 CL-S.

Well, shit, if he's going to swap it in, he could have the shop cut off the exhaust manifold and put on new pipes. You can do just about anything while the engine's out. The sky's the limit... and the wallet.

as far as i can tell you it *may bolt* in but the drive by wire feature will screw with your computer. you would have to check into computer compatibility and things like that. i agree with everyone else. your best bet is to beef up a type-S motor. good luck!

does it really need headers though? i thought the additional 10hp was gained from freeing up the exhaust a bit, or am i totally wrong? (of course i see the fact that a header would be good for 20hp instead of the 10 you gain from the 04+ TL redesign).
