Driver side window squeaking/screeching quick fix any1?

For some reason when i roll down the drivers side window it screeches all nasty and horror-film like. I was going to take the door apart, but just wanted to see if any1 got rid of this problem a different way.

Thanks,

Got the same problem. It makes me cringe when I hear it. I'm going to the dealer this weekend to have them fix it. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to happen when it is cold outside. Hopefully it can be reproduced for the service manager.

have you tried flushing the seal and window area out with water? sounds like debris is in there causing that

Got the same problem on a 3G but luckily it's on passenger's side so it doesn't bother me much, and what's weird is that it sometimes will work fine for a day or two and then it goes back to the noise, I live in a hot city so mine can't be the cold

Thanks,
Had same problem. Service advisor recommended silicone spray to use in the rubber tracking (where the window goes up and down). Did this about a year ago, now it is smooth and quiet.

Give it a try and report back. You can purchase the bottle for about three bucks at an autoparts store.

Is that the same thing as silicone lubricant? Doesn't that make the window look greasy?

Absolutely not, what basically happens is that the rubber starts to dry out along the track causing the window to squeek while going up or down. Grab a bottle of the silicone lubricant spray and spray inside the track. Not the bottom track (where the window hides), that will make your window look greasy. What you are looking to spray is the two sides and the top. Believe or not, that is where your noise is coming from. Let me know how it works out.

Huh. I'll give it a shot. Always thought it was coming from the bottom of the window. Thanks for the tip.

Yeah I thought the exact same thing at the time. But in essence it wasn't making any noise at all.

Sides and top? My problem sounds like the bottom as well. So just to clarify, I spray the sides and top seals with the window (up or down)? Not the bottom seal.

You dont spray the top. That would get the glass greasy looking. Just the 2 sides of the windo (the track area where it rides. I would try washing the rubber seal out too, the out side one that keeps dirt and stuff from getting in the door from between the glass.

I did indicate to spray the top, which is indeed incorrect.
When doing mine I did exactly what Kris suggested here, just the two sides.
It's been over a year since I've done this, the windows have tracked smoother and without any squaking sounds whatsoever.

One word of caution, DO NOT confuse the silicone spray for WD-40. Two totally different things here.

Well I figured out what make noise. Did set silicone spray didn't help, than silicone grease in side grooves, help just little. Problem is rear grove and driver window rear edge are of the parallel and rear top of window contact bottom of grove. Hence no noise when it go down but big noise when it go up. If is possible to adjust window it will solve problem.

It is said in manual to lubricate "run channel" with silicone grease. https://www.ebay.com/p/OEM-Honda-Shi...1455443&chn=ps

Well I figured out what make noise again. It is lower outer weather strip. Happen to rain for a while and noise of window is gone when I move it up down. So conclusion was must be lower outer weather strip. I sprayed it with silicone spray and noise is mostly gone.

To add window is not adjustable. I play with it at Sunday, take door panel off. You can only move window left or right 3/16 or so. But you can not move one side of window up or down. Evidently it wasn't problem any way.

So 12,5 years and still persisting to find true. You should go to Yukon or jungles of Amazon and look for gold.

In my case problem is that window edge vertical lines and vertical guides of the door are out of level. You can easy check it at yours car by pressing a side of window lightly when it is raising up and see if it make noise smaller. Problem is it is not "natively" adjustable. Maybe put some tape at one side of the window in bottom. In my case colder weather come to Mn so I just forget about it.

You don't care that the original poster died? How selfish of you. I don't think cars are as important as a human life.

Ok so he died, should we lock this thread in honor of his memory or keep it alive in honor of his memory?

I solved this. What should be done is keep silicon spray can in trunk. Than spray window guides whenever is possible for a few weeks. Rubber will not get softer from one or two spraying. A dose is needed.
