I would like to know about this too..

I started thinking about it and If i was going to race from a stop and the tcs was activated , wouldn't it slow me down???

I realize it only works for speeds under 25 mph but remember i would be starting from a complete stop

if you race from a stop tcs on will hurt your launch really bad.

My tsc is always off. The only time that I leave it on is if it is raining really hard or snowing.

isn't it always on by default? the tcs switch is not like the foglight switch, so how do you leave it off all the time?

I leave mine on because I hate seeing that big amber TCS light on when i disable it. It's better to leave it on anyways, since you'll be a little bit "safer," unless you know your gonna race or something, then go for it.

ya...i seriously thought that it wouldn't be on unless i press the button but after reading the manual i realized i was totally wrong...the confusing part is that when u turn it off the indicator light actually comes on...so u would think that it is on now but it's actually the opposite...

I leave mine on because I don't want to press the freaken button and stare at an amber light for the rest of the trip. Seriously if you don't read the manual, everyone think that pressing the button would make it turn on and its off by default.

same here. i leave it on. TCS only works to 18Mph according to the manual, though ive seen it kick in at 25ish... but my tires dont slip at all unless its raining hard or i power brake.

Wait, that doesn't make any sense that the light turns "on" when the TCS is actually off. Everytime I hit a patch of snow/ice/rain (whatever the Midwest decides to throw me) my TCS light comes on when the car feels like it's gonna slide/stick. If it lit up and meant it was turning off, it wouldn't be doing it's job. What am I missing?

The TCS light turns "on" when you disable it because it is a little reminder that bugs the crap out of you. So whenever you look at your cluster, you'll see it and remember to enable it. (light going off)

And whenever your going through rain/snow/ice, it comes on to show you that the TCS is being enabled and working to assist you. It's like the ABS. You'll know that ABS is working when you see the light comes on.

I leave mine on all the time, just to keep that XXX light out, But their is a new Mericury Marader in town that I`ll turn it of for. One`s a look alike , but one is the real thing, I`m tired of nailing the look alike.

May the force be with you!

What??!?!?!?!! I have never seen my ABS light come on, and I've felt it a couple times... NEVER has that light come on. I thought it only came on if there was a problem with the system!

Since I have a first generation TL, maybe it's different from the 2nd/3rd generations and does not light up? I've always seen it come on for me when it's assisting me.

Yes, the tsc light is always ON by default. But I always turn mine off the second I get into the car. I turn it off by pressing the tsc button. The light doesn't bother me so :p !

Welcome to TCS 101
Now students our first lesson is how TCS LIGHT works

This is a low speed traction control system & works at speeds of up to 22MPH.

When yellow TCS LIGHT is ON constant the TCS SYSTEM is OFF.
When yellow TCS LIGHT is OFF the TCS SYSTEM is ON.
When TCS system detects Wheel Spin the Yellow TCS will BLINK ON & OFF.
