I have my car in the dealer for two weeks already, after the first week they called me and said after they installed a new tranny and test drove it found the new tranny is defective so they need to order me another one. How can a brand new tranny is defective without any mileage on it? does anyone know?

The transmission Warranty is good until 100K. Any dealer should give you loaner car. I bought my Acura at Radely Acura in VA and I had Rosenthal Acura in MD replace the tranny for me. They gave me a loaner car. Check with the dealer first. If not complain to Acura.

Hey. I read through those two threads, and I didn't find any definitive evidence that the replacement transmissions are redesigned units.

By "redesign", it's probably half dealership bullshit (trying to make you feel better) and as for the other half, just better finish on the 3rd gear cluch disc, since that's where the problem, supposedly, stems from.

Got finally got my car back last week, I didn't check it b4 I left the dealer so when I got to my company as I turned left I heard a loud squeaking noise coming out from the driver's side wheel immediately called the dealer the service manager told me to bring it back to the dealer they check and said the wheel bearing is broken so they replaced that. So I have my wheel bearing replaced. After they replace the tranny second gear still jerk sometimes

Call the Roadside Assistance number and have it towed. It is not safe to drive, plus it can damage the engine or motor mounts the way it shifts abruptly. You should have a 100k warranty on the tranny. What year is it.

Warranty

Yesterday the same indicator lights came on on my 03 tl which I bought from an Acura dealer in October . Why wasn't this car recalled? I bought this car in October less than 5 months ago and now I need to pay what to fix it?
does Acura have any sort of financial assistance with this issue? I read about roadside assistance here but I've never used it and don't know the price.

Hi Carol

Sounds like your transmission may be on its way out unfortunately.

These older generation TL's have some bad transmissions. Best to take it to a reputable transmission shop and have them swap in a transmission from a Accord V6: https://acurazine.com/forums/second-...n-swap-905115/

There was never a recall to replace trans- it was to install a part that is not related to the typical failure- there never was a all cars transmission replacement recall, who started that rumor-
it was a warranty issue if you got a replacement trans due to certain damage found during the recall part install

Financial assistance on a 2003 in 2017! What kind of warranty do you think came with these cars new, that is still in effect?
The court case extended the original transmission 50,000 mile warranty to 7 years+ 9 months from new, or 107kmiles.
NOT 15 years

Carol What kind of Warranty did the dealer give with the sale? That would be your only course thru them,
their service dept will quote you 4000-5000 DOLLARS for a rebuilt unit on your own paying
There are much better options for ~$1500-2000
BUT you may have recourse under the used car sale warranty- unless it was the standard 90 days
The Dealership General Manager can make many decisions to keep a customer happy,
and not going on the internet telling millions of people how they were treated badly at dealership xyz in yadatown

Best of luck to you on this Carol

roadside assistance comes out to change a flat tire or jump a battery or tow the car home for you, that is about all they do

Just curious, why are you inquiring about transmission warranty status?
With that said, if your 23 y/o 2001 CL's original factory automatic transmission is still present & functional, the probability is very high that the warranty has expired, regardless of ownership changes.

I was asking because the transmission is going out in my '01 CL and it doesn't have 100,000 miles on it yet so I was hoping that the warranty would still cover it, lol wishful thinking right?!!

Extremely wishful thinking. Your warranty expired 16 years ago, regardless of mileage.
