My transmission has been slipping sporadicly for the past 2 weeks. Today I was accelerating from a stop in D4 & the transmission locked up in 2nd gear. It would not up shift.

At the same time the VSA ! & the check engine/emissions
light came on. I put the car in neutral; then park & turned the engine off. When I started the car back up & shifted into D5 the transmission started to work again but the check engine light remained on. I've checked the gas cap & driven the car about 6 times since this happened.

Anyone else experience this before complete tranny failure?

Seems odd to me.

 

I'd bring it to the dealer asap. If your tranny is slipping, bring it to the dealer for a checkup. At least this way its on record. As for the check engine light, it could be the tranny. (solenoids?) When you bring it to the dealer, they should be able to read the code from the car.

 

Hate to break it to ya, but thats classic symptoms of CL tranny failure

 

Yeah that's what I was afraid of.
I've been anticipating it since the slipping started 2 weeks ago.
I had it at the dealer for the Actuator & told them about the
tranny but got the "unless we can duplicate it, we can't diagnose it" BS reply. I have since talked to another dealer I've just been waiting for it to get worse or go out completely.
I thought that was happening today but never heard of the check engine light coming on. It seems it usually locks up & the VSA ! stays illuminated.

I think I'll be calling for a service apointment in the morning!

Ohh..... And you have a 2002! Built 8/01. How many miles do you have?

 

thats what I say, what the heck I thought Acura corrected the problem for 2002. I hope it doesn't happen to me b/c it would definetly convince me for a 6 speed, at a great deal of course.

I THINK my build date is 10/01, but I'm not 100% sure. Only 4100 miles though...
