Question Are Comptech Sways really better and worth it?

Okay, maybe I missed it, but can someone splain why go with the Comptech sways based on the data below?

I'd have to assume that Comptech uses a special alloy that provides greater stability in spite of its equal or slightly smaller size.

That however is not immediately obvious from the data on the TL site.

ACURA OE Stabilizer Bars Specs
Front: 1.07 in./ 0.18 in. (1 1/14")
(27.4 mm) diameter x (4.5 mm) wall thickness

Rear: 0.75in. (3/4") solid rears, 19.0 mm

Comptech Stabilizer Bar Specs
Front: 1 1/16 tubular front (27mm)

Rear:
7/8" solid rears (22mm)

The rears is what makes it better because the CT sways are less hollow than the stock one is. The front is barely noticable.

Worth it no questions asked. They work Better with 235/40/18 with Nittos or Toyos

Also, don't forget the bushings make a big difference.

A good quote taken from Road Rage: ( Thread )
The Comptech bushings are polyurethane - you can adapt the factory bushings, but remember that the stiffer poly bushing will not deflect as much, and will give a sharper, more precise and consistent turn in - that is why racers use them, since a solid bushing will not change the suspension attitude fractionally over a short interval, leading to possible attitude change in mid-radius of a turn.

Ruf87,

The best advise I can give you is for you to hook up with someone who has the same car as you (preferably with the same setup) and will let you try (drive) their car. This is what I did before buying mine and I WAS HOKKED.

No amount of us telling you how good the ride is will help until you see/feel for yourself.

If you still want my opnion do a search.

What's the wall thickness of the front for COMPTECHS... wont that might make a difference ? YES/NO

Thanks folks.

I guess trying one out back to back with mine is probably the surest way to get addicted.

Do you have to periodically add silicon grease to avoid squeaking? I have heard some ride with lots of noise when the car bounces on the road.

no u dont. the new ones come with teflon tape instead of grease, as long as u wrap it good, it will hold fine.

Ruf87,
I'd be happy to let you try my TLS out. I took some guys out at one of our meets at the coffee shop at Park and Coit. I guess you weren't in on that ride. They felt the difference! PM me if you would like to ride.

Hey PlanoTLS

Let me know when you North Dallas guys are getting together again as I am up in McKinney and, being a newbie at this stuff, I would like to see what everyone is driving, how their mods look, and what they think of the performance.

I have the Comptech springs and swaybars on order--too bad Comptech is "experiencing a delay" on the sways until the end of the month.

InfernoTLS and PlanoTLS -

Check out the CL Forum regularly. That's where we do most of the meet coordination.

We just had one a few weeks ago. And had a great time. 15+ showed up. We went cart racing afterwards.

Matter of fact, we are looking at trying to get one in for the fall down in Ennis.

So, are you a soccer fan too?? If so . . :smokin:

I've been coaching youth soccer for the past few years. And been a fan since the early 70s.

Hey Ruf, how have you been?

The CompTech rear sway is thicker, you can see the difference if you put them side by side. The front bar has a thicker wall than OEM. They are great, I would recommend them along with a upper strut from Neuspeed. The upper strut make steering "tighter" and more precise with less play.

Yo yo Phantom, I've been doing great. Finally getting some mods done. New wheels and tires, and looks like sway and springs are in the future.

How about you? Still burning rubber?
I'm still looking to take a few runs at a GS400. Especially now that I have a fresh set of tires.

And thanks for the words of encouragement and upper strut tip.

RUF the GS400 slayer . . . I hope.
