cat question...help!!!!!
ok...if my car has california emissions....do i need a california emission cat even tho i dont live in california???would this cause cel if i get 49 state legal cat???i have a califorina emission o2 sensor...it was the same part # as the 49 state o2 sensor tho..idk..anyone???
so you have a Ca car you now have in another state and need to pass smog- is that correct?
Ca standards are the toughest so all other states accept them
Never heard of any probs with aftermarket units ordered thru Excelerate
and used in every state- Call Josh there and get pro info
Im not sure the differance in a Ca. cat---anyone? acura techs? fries?

i live in connecticut..but have california emissions according to my vin,,called the dealer cus i wasnt sure...theres a sticker under the hood...but i have a aftermarket hood...i dont see why i cant use a 49 state cat...idk tho...cali cat is alot more too..
id go by the state you live in, and some states its by reign you live in. check local laws, if the car is getting inspected in Connecticut then go by there laws i guess. 49 state legal stuff should be fine, cant see why not.
if it cost more there has to be a differance like an extra air port connection for our additional requirements
for the car to run right- call Josh at Excelerate--look in the sponsored sales threads
its not about where you live now,,,there are different parts in some cases
I know in Ca an older car cat is 99$ installed, and the newer obdiII cars we have are 150-300 for its cat
edit- I sent a PM to Josh with this thread link

Sometimes the actual housings are different, but most of the time the catalytic core is just larger. If you run a non CA cat you will likely throw a code. You can get rid of the code by running a O2 spacer.
If you are in CT I'd recommend just buying a Random Tech cat and an O2 spacer. It will cost a third of the price of the OE setup:
