I don't think the japanese version has back up sensor option...there is a seller on ebay that sells the senors that really look OEM, like on BMW and MB

In Japan, they have those corner sensors (one on each corner); they start making beeping sound when there're obstacles within 50-60cm range. They're pretty expensive though, about $880 US for the whole set.

I read Russian car magazines, and constantly amazed how much staff is available in Europe, Asia, anywhere else but here. Many systems most US cars do not even have as an option (like backup sensors) are now standard there on most under $25K cars, and usually an option on econoboxes from $15K. Sucks! Than again, it is like that with everything else... US just doesn't get much cutting edge staff like the rest of the world!

One of my friends did it on his '03 TL as a dealer installed option when he bought the car new. The sensor installation was so professional that I originally thought it was a factory option. The four colour-matched sensors are flush mounted in the rear bumper, not black coloured like those offered as a factory option from many other car manufacturers. However, the indicator module which contains the leds and piezo beeper is very ugly indeed. It is velco'ed to the dash right behind the left signal stick. It completely destroy the neat and clean look of the dashboard and steering wheel assembly.

Just after a quick peek at the indicator module, I would prefer to back up my car slowly and carefully rather than having that $hitty piece of cheap plastic piece mounted on my dash. If only all those leds and beeper could be integrated into the dashboard, that 's a different story.
