Anybody have any idea what this is for?
That lever just above the ski pass-thru
I thought maybe it was te emergency lever to open the gas cover if the cover gets jammed from up front, but I'm pulling it and nothing's happening... I think it may be the emergency trunk release from inside, but i wouldn't know, the trunk had to be open for me to see this, so I have no idea...anyone?

It does nothing. It is just one of 3 hooks that hold the seat back down. Take off your back seat and you'll see.

I'm talking about the black lever with the cord that's going towards the left of the car, not the little hook right on top of the pass thru...

ive locked myself in the trunk once while locating a rattle. i knew it was there but i couldnt find the damn lever.

It's not for safety in case someone gets trapped inside the trunk, but because there is no key hole on the trunk. Not good if you're a gangster, I suppose...

The 2001 has an additional trunk release on the inside of the trunk lid. This one is meant as an escape release for a trapped child. What a great car for children to play in! Two, count 'em TWO emergency trunk releases!
