Looks like a bass knob. If he installed a sub in the trunk, you could control it w/a knob.

It doesn't look like aluminum more like plastic... It would look real bad IMO in a nice car like the TL, a rice rocket maybe but not a TL. Maybe a company like Legend 5 has real aluminum trim.

Here ya go... www.ap-signworks.com. They have a real aluminum trim kit for the integra. Looks very nice!!! If there is enough interest, they might make onefor the TL. Oh yeah, BTW, I'm not affiliated in any way with that company. He's just another guy from the maxima.org site.

I don't care for the look but the person did a nice job. Kudos for the craftsmanship.

I'll ask the person in charge to see if he is interested in getting a kit made for the TL. Granted that I'm quite new here, which Tim do I need to clear it with? Also, what do I need to clear with him? I'll keep you guys posted.

Regards,
Mike H.

It's cool Mike. I appreciate it. At one time I heard of over 30 members who were interested in aluminum trim. So we'll see. The Tim you need to clear it with is the owner of this forum. He owns www.autocarparts.com and this site is a forum branch off of that per se. You can tell because all the links above to stuff you can buy is from his site. He's a nice guy, but he doesn't like groupbuys on his site unless it's cleared with him. So just ask him if it's okay to list it in here...possibly you may want to move to the For Sale section, and see what he says. He's on this forum as Snook789, but you'll have to post an ATTN: Snook789 thread, because he doesn't accept private messages. Also, you can email him at info@autocarparts.com, and just put ATTN: Tim in the subject heading. He approved my alternator upgrade groupbuy, I'm sure he won't mind this. He may even be able to help you out.

UPDATE!!!

Alright guys, here's the latest 411 on the developments of the new kit. Here is the reply the owner sent me:

"We're willing to make the kit. What we need are a template (ie. a dash kitfrom another manufacturer), a TL in the Atlanta area, so we can refine the kit, and 3 people commited to purchasing the kit. From the time we receive a template to the time we have a production kit ready for sale would beabout a month. The cost of the kit is going to be in the $265 range retail, but we'll probably work out a group deal to introduce the kit. If you can't find a template, we can, but we'll need someone to cover the cost of the template. Let me know if these terms work for you. Thanks."

So anyways, we need a template (anyone know where to get one?), and a volunteer TL in ATL and of course, 3 people. Anyone down with this?

Regards,
Mike

Oh yeah, please note that this is REAL aluminum.

You could just go buy the dash trim kit...it has all the pieces of the dash...and send that to them. Or my best suggestion, which is go contact Tim NOW (info@autocarparts.com ....ATTN: TIM) and get him to send a trim kit to them, assuming they won't destroy it, so they can send it back to him and he won't lose any money. I would be willing to buy the aluminum kit, so you and me makes two, I'm sure there are plenty more. There are plenty of TLers over in A-Town...just post a topic in the TL and TLS forum asking anyone in Atlanta if they'd like to help out. Find out from the company what kind of time investment the Altanta guy would be putting in (oh and you'd want to find an Atlanta guy who wanted the aluminum trim...so that's three right there). Lastly, I'm sure Tim would be willing to carry the trim kit once it was introduced, so tell that company that (it means a LOT of sales). Also I can help you out if you want to PM me their info.

Getting your help in this matter would be great. I'll PM you the details of this. I e-mailed Snook789 already requesting a groupbuy and the ok for this. Haven't heard from him yet. Hopefully it'll be ok. Anyways, I hope that we'll get at least 3 people for this. I'm NOT one of them as I don't own a TL, my GF does and she will not let me touch her car with a 10 foot pole. The lead time is about a month according to the e-mail so it's a pretty quick turn-around time.

Great! Hopefully they can put a protective coat on the aluminum or some clear coat type of thing...because scratched aluminum looks awful...
