The spare key is so the remote start can work. From what I recall, there's some chip in the key. Some guys use the valet key, cut off the key portion and put it somewhere in the dash. I thought there was a way around this though. Like a audio/alarm shop has these small boxes that they can use instead of a key. Not 100% sure, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

The extra key is used to start the ignition when using the remote start. There is a spot in ur steering column that is hidden that the key goes in. and basically it
starts the car for you when u remote start it. When i put mine in, i used my valet key for this. so now all i have left is the regular key. they tell you to get another one just in case, but the problem is our key has a chip in it, so it cost a little more money. As far as installation goes it took abour 4hours, remember ur runnig wires to ur engine, doors. and optional trunk, hood, and windows. The only problem in the begingin was that the factory alarm and the clifford were on at the same time, and the factory alarm would not disable, but it was taken care of i just cut off the factory alarm. ANYWAYS the clifford, or viper are reallly good, they are all made by the same company so it doesnt matter only diff is color. make sure u get the one with the screen, b/c it shows u which door is open, and it alerts you up to 1/4 mile of any problems. any other questoins let me know wellchosen54@aol.com i work at best buy.
