air horns

air horns

i bought some hella air horns today.. it comes with a compressor, relay and 2 horns.. i want to hook this horn up to a switch and keep it seperate from my stock horn.. i.e. i want to hit a button and have my air horn go off. can anyone help me out on how to wire this up?? thanks

It comes with a wiring diagram. Just make sure you hook up the relay correctly. But if you do decide to replace your stock horns, the stock wiring has a negative trigger.

connect the power from the compressor directly to the positive terminal on the battery.

connect the negative from the compressor to one side of a switch (i'd use a momentary switch -- the kind on ur computer case) and the other side of the switch to a bolt on the car's chassis/body somewhere.

U wont need the relay if u wire it up this way.

Use 12 AWG wire. The momentary switch i got was a little small so bridged some 18 AWG to it instead.

so [12AWG]-[18AWG]-button

i would actually hook it up to the factory horn,(that way you can use the steering wheel and not fumble for a little button) but put a toggle switch between it so you dont always have to use it.

will the toggle engage only one of the horns at a time? idk if i would want both my air horn and stock horn to honk simultaneously.
