6 speed MT TL Type-S...

Is this worth doing? I know that I would have to change a whole bunch of crap, but is it possible? I know anything is possible if you have the money, but I am not rockafeller

Like you said... anything is possible if you have the money.... and it would be very, very expensive to do this. It can be done... but you will need a bunch of money. Getting it done doesn't guarantee that it will work right either. If you want a 6-speed that bad... you'd be better off trading in your TL-S for the manual CL-S.....

I had the CL Type S, but I want to be different and do it to the TL. That's my main concern right now, will it work right?

I don't know... it's a whole new tranny on a larger car. I'm thinking you'd need to swap out the tranny, the center console, and probably the ECU too. Plus, I think engine layout are a little different b/c people with the 6-speed had problems with headers and intakes made for the 01-03 auto fitting properly.

According to the latest Acura magazine, the CL/TL is available in 2 doors or 4, 5p automatic or 6p manual for the '03 model.

I would research getting an engine/tranny/ECU and everything else that goes with it (like driveshafts, console, etc.) as used parts, and offering your parts as trade in. It is possible to find a low mileage parts from a car totaled in the rear end collision. With parts swap, it may only cost you a couple of thousand for parts, and a few more thousand to get it all installed.

That's a good idea. But how many '03 CL-S' am I supposed to find around here in a junk yard that only have a rear end hit that wasn't fixable?

For what it would cost for conversion, you can trade in for a brand new CLS 6-speed WITH Warranty!!! Not only it's a hassle(keep in mind that VSC would be taken off, too, and you probably would want LSD couple with 6-speed...)to swap things out, worst yet, you void warranty for sure..... and who knows what side-effects would be there after the swap.....

But like many said, anything can be done if you got the dough to burn....

Thanks STi well put. How do you know how much money I have monkey spanker? I am simply asking a question, if you don't like it don't read it. What would be the point of this forum if we didn't ask questions?

here's what you do.....take the money that it will cost for the 6 speed upgrade (properly) and go get a new NSX. The NSX will also have a warranty and pick up 4 times more bittches.

LOL. Yea but not at the same time. At least with the 4 door you can really pack them in there :p And I talked to PAA and they said it will cost about 10k (not 40k+).

I don't think it would cost as much as $10K.

There is an v6 accord with a Legend 5 speed. It costed $6000 to do, but that was due to some custom fabrication.

Plus you could easily sell the other parts like the tranny and get about 1500 easy for it. I don't like the style of the CL-S compared to the TL-S with the body kit (this is why I have a TL-S and want to do it to this car) besides wanting to be different.

.....dont forget about pedals....... You'll probably have to change out all the bracketry, ditch the existing brake pedal and get the clutch/brake pedal setup. Not to mention firewall modifications to get the linkage through.... Plus those little lights on your dash (D5,D4...etc.) will be inoperative. The hole is your console will require modified boots...... Not to mention the resale of your car will probably go down. I remember the day when we paid MORE money to have an automatic..... Oh well......

LOL. Yea me too I talked to Jens yesterday for quite some time about this. He couldn't give me an exact figure, but said that the car might not pass emissions. He also said that the clutch pedal would be his biggest concern. He went on to say I would have to swap out the ECU, tranny, linkage, center console, brake pedal, axles, a part of the exhaust, lose the VSA, and a whole bunch of misc pieces for under the car.etc. He will have to have the car for more than a week and I would have to sign a waiver. He told me that he didn't see any problem with doing it, it's just to CYA. He said it sounded like a cool project and wanted to do it, but now I am not so sure it's worth the headache. I was more interested I think in weather or not it was possible.

Did Jens give any detail on why the car wouldn't pass emissions? That sounds weird.

I had my headlights stolen in Totowa about a year ago. Memories... Drove home at night with a flashlight pointed out my window.

I dont think this generation of TL will have a 6 speed tranny. Quite possibly the next gen TL will have the option.

Wow. Sorry to hear about that! Someone is stealing them out of the Applebees parking lot WITH a blue TL (Go figure). My father is a cop here in town and told me cause I was there and he thought it was me! LOL. I have my own, I don't need to jack someone elses! What a real $cumbag this guy is.

Anyway, he said that each car comes out of the factory with some type of warranty or certificate and this tells that the car was an auto, so if you convert it, they will know that it wasn't like that stock.

whats wrong with the next gen accord? just curious.. yeah that flashlight story is funny although I don't quite get how it applies haha.. and yeah I have a first gen and I've heard of the legend v6's being put into it for under 6k so I don't know why you would need so much done to swap to something that is probably a similar engine
