'07 camera opening with '06 camera installed...

Well, here we go guys..... the trunk lid is made of aluminum..... very easy to drill and cut (but gotta be careful just like everything else)..... the camera and the opening fit perfectly..... the 06 camera and attachment kit is perfect for the '07 trim opening..... I just wish it'll come with some kind of template and better mounting hardware..... it took me a while to play with the fitting...... I left plenty of space for angle adjustment later..... I used the black urithane (playdoo-like material) to seal off and fill the space between the metal and the camera..... this way it'll still have room to move around...... but freaking instruction manual, got me mixed up with the wirings.... got it in backward and now i think i've blown the fuse...... the image won't come up.... now when i put it in reverse, the screen is black (everything else is working perfectly)...... anyone know which fuse to change? the camera manual says that fuse need to be replaced when it's blank screen...... well, enough bs, here are some pics first..... I will post more pictures tomorrow.....

if you move the camera further you can actually get an in-focus shot.

thx for all the warm comments my friends.... went to the dealer today and they are going to warrenty the camera unit.... so I should get a new camera this friday.... today, I found out that the wiring is different between 06 and 07.... even tho they all have 6 wires, but they are arranged in different order. the 07+ also have more stages of wires before it goes into the back of the navi unit. the 06 camera is just the camera + the short attachment wire --> navigation unit..... running the wire through the trunk hinge pipe is the most challenging task i think

i thought the camera was suppose to be installed where the trunk latch release is, in the center and then a dimple goes to the left of it to replace the release? am i wrong?

I believe that's how they installed the cameras in the '06 models (which were dealer installed). The '07s have the trunk release in the "normal" position with the camera off-set (factory installed).

that is correct about the 06 installation procedure.... but what you are seeing is what happened when u mate the 06 camera to the 07 style installation....

the 07 comes with a build-in turret opening to the left of the center trunk latch.... it doesn't need to move the trunk latch and have a more "build-in" or "hidden" flush look....

Well, as promissed.... more pix.... the problem lies with the camera unit itself.... after put in the new one, it work as it should be.... I ended up removing the mounting bracket.... the camera is held in by the black urithan rubbers.... very sturdy mount with rooms to move adjust... do any of you know if there is a way to fix the previously posted picture link.... I've move the pictures around to organize them and now the link doesn't work.... next up...... tint..... should I go with 20% or 35%..... I had to darken my TL from 35 to 20..... I don't know how it'll turn out if I put 20% on..... anyway, enough BS..... here comes the pix

one mod at a time my friend..... I do like the lower profile look..... but i also worry that if i pull into a parking space that the concrete stopper is gonna bust up my front lower spoiler..... those of you that lowered your car, how do u deal with that problem? right now, when i pull into a spot, the concrete sits just <1"..... if I drop it more, i don't know how I'm gonna clear that..... than again, just don't part so far in:P

another question.... do anyone know what is the spec for the bulb for the back up light? I saw the bulb and the wedge base is much larger than the regular wedge base bulb that goes into the license plate and every other bulbs in the car.... I wanted to install the LED bulbs into them just like my TL, but I have no idea what reverse light bulb spec our RL uses...

Also, have anyone extend their exhaust tip to come out a bit more? how does it look?

Does the backup camera performs good during night time? with the tag/backup/and brake lights going on at once? My friend did the mod to a ford explorer and everything looked red purple-ish but was ok during when the sun is out.
