RL will start but alarm goes off.
This morning 1/25, i head outside to run my errands for the day. i tried to unlock car with the remote, but with no luck, i then inserted the hard key into the door to unlock, which worked, i then tried to turn on the car, but with no luck. nothing would work, trunk button, nothing. i figured it was the battery, even tho i had one installed by Acura less than a year ago, (i went with the Acura battery because of the warranty), i called AAA they came out in 30 mins, battery tested GOOD!, i then try and start car, nothing. AAA driver says it might be the starter. i then take the plastic knob off the ignition, i insert hard key and car turns on, but with the alarm going full blast , sound lights everything, i turn it off, i try again 5 more times and same thing. alarm goes off, i tell the driver i want my car towed to the dealership. he orders a tow truck to come, about 40 mins later truck comes and realizes that the RL is AWD. no doddies or flat bed, so i try car again, same problem. as i'am writing this i am waiting for a flat bed to come tow the car the Acura dealer.
any ideas? help, will update once i find out what happens

Do you have the second FOB available? If it does the same thing with FOB2, then it is a problem on the car side.

update finally got picked up with the flat bed at 1500 today, went to the dealer.
i have my favorite Service Consultant Kim working today and she helped me out, cost me $62.50 to get the car in the bay to be looked at. she told me she had 3 guys pulled away from other cars to look at mine right away. i decided to wait. Finally got an update and they concluded that it was the exterior right side door handle sensor had water contact and shorted the sensor.....
they went on to say that the part i needed was back ordered from Acura warehouse for 2 weeks, they went on to do a part search and found only one in Arizona at some dealership, but had to wait till tomorrow morning to make contact and even see if they can get it. of course they don't have a loaner to give me. luckily my dad was on his way home from work and was passing me on his way home, i have a motorcycle to use and my sisters car that she leaves at home when away to college, so ill be all right transportation wise. best part: part costs $289 and then with labor looking at $500. i went on to think that i remember that theres a possible TSB. so i will now look for it , and if anyone knows it can you please back me up with that TSB.

exactly what i thought if im spending big bucks i think i should rate a loaner, im not just going to get my oil changed.
i printed out the tsb and brought it in today and she said she would ask the rep for the goodwill service.
and yes the part runs for 289 + labor looking at just over 500. found a coupon for 15% off.
but update to this, got a call this afternoon stating that the tech "undid" the alarm on the driver door and so the fuss can be put back in so that my brake lights work and so my RL will be drivable. so i'm taking the car back tomorrow and will bring it back when the part is in. and still no update for when the part will actually be in.

I certainly hope Honda/Acura reads posts this this and the related ones on the cost for replacing the faulty door handles....which are a known problem with the car.
Hopefully this will lead to a different keyless system on the next RL.

no it shouldnt have left intill it was fixed, but my SC wanted me to take it so i had a car to "drive".
the part is supposed to be in by wednesday, when a loaner car will be available.
i wouldnt want to leave my car there at the dealer anyways who knows what would happen.

Thanks HEAVY.
for those still reading my thread, brought the RL in today, service lady gave me a 2010 RDX Base FWD, and damn is this thing fast.after a few minutes of driving you realize how so the interior is. backseat would be fine for two persons. i miss the ride height over car feel. the car has 4680 miles on it and its already at 5% oil life, on the MID it says it needs service A done. i feel like it has a stiff ride, u feel every bump/ rivet on the road. throttle is very sensitive, she even warned me to be carefull driving because before you know it your doing 80mph. very true.
back to the RL, not sure how many days it will take. having them take a look at a couple of issues aswell.
we will see what happens, cant wait.... NOT.

recieved the call friday afternoon that the car was ready to go and with good news: that Acura would offer the good-will warranty for the door handle, nothing out of my pocket. i would however have to pay for the navigation tune that i asked for. $125.00
i was at work so told them i would bring the loaner back saturday morning first thing. woke up at 7 to get there by 0800.
my usual Lady was not there so i delt with another guy. gave him the loaner keys, he got my paperwork. signed a copy gave him a $15 off coupon out the door for $110. got into the RL to make sure that the interface feedback dial was fixed like i asked them to do which was the $110 question. nope not fixed went back inside, told him what i just paid for was not fixed, when i was called on friday and told that it was fixed.
he gave me a refund right away. and i was told that i would get a call on monday.
also my RL was not washed. and had some white substance that looked like dried wax right below the door handle.
yes im very thankfull that acura covered the handle out of warranty and that i get my baby back, but not happy about the rest of the outcome.

I have an intermittent problem with the door handle but can't reproduce it all the time. Dealer won't replace it till they can reproduce. What to do? I posted something similar and didn't want to hijack this thread but I wonder if my problem is similar, the alarm went off while the car was being driven on the road. Can't duplicate the problem anymore.

or tell him to keep the car all day unlock and locking until they do reproduce.

hey man, sorry i was away from my computer
you take off the knob at the igintion and insert the hard metal key. to take the knob off u simply pull it off, i can use the hard key at the bottom and it pops right off. then very easy to put it back on.

I am having this exact same issue with my '05 this morning. We have been having very bad weather for the past few weeks. Finally the sun came out yesterday and I decided to wash the car late last night. I wake up this morning and I cannt open the doors with the FOB. I opened them up maually and I could not start the car. I removed the plastic ignition and started the car with the key and the alarm went off. So freaking loud.
I am now 100% sure I shorted one of my door handles yesterday when I washed the car. This sucks, I don't know how I am going to get the car towed to the dealer and how much its going to cost me.

I recently had the same exact problem as zRLMarine (as if battery dead, alarm going off on start once, with both FOBs, then proceeding to act like dead battery again, etc.). I jumped the battery which started the car immediately. It had lost the radio code which I reset and it's been fine since (a month or so). I know others, including myself have reported gremlins in this car but fwiw, I wanted to share my experience. A couple of years ago, I had the symptom of a bad handle and I got as far as complaining to Acura and it began to sound like they might have taken care of me but then the problem went away and I haven't seen it since (I don't wash the car religiously anymore or it's an excuse to be lazy) so I never followed up with the dealer. I guess it beats my Audi A4 I had where the alarm would go off while I could be waiting behind someone at a red light (got dirty looks) or on the highway at 70mph. It was annoying and embarrasing to say the least.
