Radar detector hardwire/switched 12V from fusebox?

Getting ready to hardwire my radar detector into the car. Anyone done this before? I'm looking for a switched 12V source in one of the fuseboxes I can run an add-a-fuse piggyback onto.

I don't remember which one I used, but that link gives you a few options. I hardwired my V1 near the headliner in my last 3 cars.

Thanks guys! Just what I was looking for. Spy, is there a nice chassis ground up there somewhere that you used?

The V1 utilizes a telephone cable and came with a socket that you plug in at the fuze box. I pushed the cable into the headline and down the a-pillar to plug into that socket. Very recently, someone found the power wire to the rear view mirror and plugged their dash cam into that. You could also theoretically get the wire to the map light assembly.

The V1 only needs switched 12v power from the fusebox?

I'm trying to wire in my Escort Passport 8500 with the remote smartcord and it needs switched 12v and a ground.

Sorry for the confusion. The socket at the fuse box has a ground as well. That would be amazingly impossible if it could work with only one wire.

Why don't you tap into the auto-dimming mirror power? I was planning to get the DC cable version for my dash cam.

I think this is what you're looking for.

Too late for me, but a good option for the OP.
