MP3s cutting out early? Other nits.

I burnt my first MP3 CD over the weekend and I noticed something odd. It seems that about half the songs cut out after about 5 minutes, before they are done. Since these are tracks that I ripped of Shoutcast I can't be 100% sure that this is really happening but it sure seems this way.

Has anyone else noticed this?

While I'm on the MP3 player, rather lame that it doesn't show any tag info. Just the first 10 characters of the file name. I mean, who designs this stuff and says 'ah, forget about the tags, no one uses those'. Insane.

Another nit: when you go to the track listing it doesn't seem to go to the current track but simply to the beginning. Am I missing something here?

I had this problem with the sound cutting out this morning - I had changed CD brands when this started occuring. The previous brand (some off brand no-name) worked fine. The new CDs are made by another no-name brand that don't work.

Hmm. These happen to be HP CDs. No other reason than they were cheap I'll do some checks. I don't think it's possible to have the player show the total lenght of the current track, right? That would make it easy to see what's going on.

I'm pretty happy with the sound quality though. These are 92 Kb/s vinyl rips mostly but they sound pretty darn booming.

Another interesting Tid-bit about MP3 disks is that the head-unit won't allow playback in the Enhanced Surround mode (I forget what Acura call this - Centerpoint, or something similar). Seems that only .WMA files can be played with this feature, and that's too bad. . .

I love the fact that I can fit over 100 songs on one measly CD. I've found that some burned DVDs (+-R) work too . . that means 1000s of .mps per disk!

Oh, speaking of .MP3s, I'd love to know how to burn them to separate folders, as the manual describes. It would be nice to organize the songs into various folders to make it easier to find them later. If anyone can describe the process I'm all ears. . .

Lachancs, that's pretty easy if you're at least a little computer savvy. Simply create your desired folder structure on your harddisk and copy/move your audio files in them. Then use your cd burning program to burn that folder structure to CD.

I'm curious how you got DVDs to work. Word in this forum has been that that's not supposed to work so I haven't tried yet.

Have you experienced WMA files cutting out early?

Are you 100% sure about this?

Yes, I am curious about the burned DVDs, I have tried and havn't had success. Can you tell us what brand/exact model number and how exactly you burned the DVD?

I've tried MANY brands of media and MANY recording options with MANY different software progams; ALL with no luck.

DVD-A, no problem, but MP3 data on a DVD has been a no-go.

lachancs, what is the secret or are you mistaken?

I've burned DVD-A disks using DVD+r media and it worked okay. I used WaveLab software. I guess I just assumed that .MP3 or .WMA files would also work since the unit read the DVD+r media with DVD-A soundtracks. Hope I didn't mislead anyone. . .

DVD-A tracks play fine, but the system in the RL does not read MP3 data (in MP3 format) on a DVD disk. Sad, but true.
