Angry Loss of XM Radio Signal

Over the last couple of days, my XM Radio has lost it's ability to maintain a signal. Oddly, the preview channel 001 comes in loud and clear, it is just my preset stations or any other station for that matter that does not come in. The station ID and artist and song information are displayed, but I get no sound. Anyone else out there experience this?

YES! i have been experiencing the same thing. the preview channel works great and sounds great and sometimes on or two of the channels work but the rest dont. i figured it was just the car antenna or something , but now know its happening to other rl's. it sucks, i pay for xm to listen to it, not to have it not working. does ur speakers also put out a humming noise?

By chance do you have another XM receiver or access to one? That may help determine if it is a signal issue or a receiver issue (your RL).

No problems to report here with XM in my RL, portable receiver, SmartPhone receiver or on my boat.

No humming noise from my speakers, but I will pay closer attention to it.

Unfortunately I don't have another XM source. Working with XM and the dealer to figure out just what type of issue I have.

Call XM Customer Service. They may do something like reset you, and the other thing is to ask for an extension to your contract for lost days!

No issues with my XM or that on a Civic Si in our family

yah i never had the problem before, i had a aftermarket xm radio in my accord, worked perfectly, but with the RL havn't seen the problem for a few days so cross my fingers , knock on wood. But Treblig when the Xm doesnt work, does your speakers make any noise? any sort of noise with oviously the volume up?

still having problems, making me mad, what seems to work tho, is turning the car off then back on. i mean thats what you have to do with alot of different types of electronics when they dont work, but thats what is making my Xm work better

At elevated volumes I get a slight hiss. But that is probably normal noise that you get when you aren't properly tuned into a radio frequency. It continues to be off and on with me. Sometimes I get the station, sometimes not and it is usually the same stations all the time. For example, I received station 71 all the time, but then station 150 is hit or miss. The same with several other of my preset stations.

Yes i get that when my volume hits to about 19 and above, pisses me off. it doesn't do it when playing cd's or fm/am, only while xm is on. last couple days xm is acting up. so called xm tonight to resend the signal. i dont no what im going to do, threaten xm -dont no what that would do or take into acura service, i always take to independent autoservice dealer, but have a feeling he wouldnt know what to do sense he's not an acura dealer and proabbly doesnt deal with xm at all. ???? but also worried sense car isnt under warranty what acura would charge or do to fix the problem. i love xm and wouldnt know what to do with my life if i lost it hahaha. jk

Your battery? Was it completely dead?

yep my battary was the reason!
pretty much dead, was still driving it with no signs of low power tho, but the dealer tested it first thing, and they said that was the possible reason why it wasnt working, and it was the reason.

I was having the same problem. Eventually, I just assumed I ran out of my subscription because I only get channel 1 and 247. I'm still not paying for XM because the previous owner left me a subscription. However, my battery is dead (or dieing) and I'm taking it tomorrow for service. Hopefully, I get a free replacement since my car is still under warranty, and I will refresh the signal from Xm.com (or repay for service) and I'll report back here.

Also, it is uncanny how all of us are having failing batteries within 4 years. My warranty runs out in Sept. 2010 (however I'm going to hit 50K well before that.)

Interesting. My XM which had a subscription from the prior owner also just "somehow" stopped working and now I only have channels 1 & 247. I wonder if they did an update of the radios?

Strangely mine occurred just a few days after I took mine in to the dealer for a minor service. They changed the registration of the car to me so I wonder if the Acura service system automatically sends a message to XM notifying them of a change of ownership.

Please do let us know if your XM radio is restored after the battery change.

ok. So Acura swapped the battery out for free. But, the XM radio is still not working. I went to refresh.xmradio.com (or whatever the URL is --too lazy to check) and typed my code and it said to contact XM customer service. The subscription is definitely up--I will most likely attempt the $77 thing. Further, I'm not sure if it was the battery or the fact that my subscription was coming to an end as to why I lost the channels, but I have a feeling however XM encrpyts the signal automatically starts causing problems during the tail end of the service or maybe it was coincidence that my battery and XM went at the same time.
